All set up in my climber. Bumped a couple on the way in, both blew. Fairly calm wind and pretty foggy. Movement should be good this morning, been raining the last two days but it’s breaking up this morning. Good luck to everyone!
Sooooo, at 0845 the Funky Buck came into 30yds and circled me where I couldn't shoot. I knew my only shot was on the back side of the tree. Very small window for 30yds. Didnt have time to range, but have ranged before. Hard quartering away and let loose. Entrance near last rib. Arrow buried half length, so about 10-12". Gave him 30 min and been tracking since, about 200yds. Blood all the way. Think I got liver and near side lung. Some dark red, some bright red with bubbles. Blood is steady. I finally saw him bump over a little incline about 30-40yds in front of me. He jumped into a thicket that I'd have to crawl through. I backed off and have circled around. Hoping he will smell me and stay put. My problem is that its supposed to start raining in 2hrs. Can't believe he's still on his feet.
Moved with both decoys to oak flats ridge above me plot and bedding in front downed poplar down hill from me . Of course sat down in ladder, stand and it's now raining. Out for rest of day pretty sure I won't melt...nice hail z
Let him die, he won't go too far if you don't push him. Wait for the rain utnil you have no choice but to go. If liver and lung he'll be dead by then.
That looks like liver. 6-8 hours would be best bet to leave him. I know your worried about rain, but he needs time. Another option would be risky, but wait for rain to start. Then sneak up on him from opposite direction and get a second shot. But if you bump him again you could loose him. I have heard of people pushing deer with kind wound to keep them pumping, but that's very risky if your not able to keep on him. Good luck on your decision.
Ghost town again. Gonna head in for a bit then head to a property in town where they can’t shoot guns. Catch y’all on the PM shift. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
