Ive heard of people derailing their bow from having a twig or similar get caught between the string and the cam. When walking around elk hunting I’ve had crap get pinched between the string and cam and remain stuck there. I’ve always been mindful of watching for this since reading about it possibly derailing the bow if we draw with it like this.
Kinda wonder if that might not be what happened to you. Sucks to miss out on a nice buck from such a low percentage occurrence, I feel your pain.

And I may or may not look like this. Forgot I ordered a Gilley suit for turkey last year. And it's a boonie to boot!

Yes. She does really well with hide drag practice, she tracked my buck last year even though I knew where it was, but we let her do it on her own and she was still a puppy.

The blood dried up and I marked it on onX and stuck a stick in the ground. I think it was mainly brisket and the brown on the arrow was fat. It didn’t stink but smelled sweet

I didn't post much because I was covered up in deer after my last post.

If I'd walked 30 yards farther down the finger I was hunting off the ridge I'd have had a shot at a huge 10 point. He wasn't following a doe and I started to reach for my grunt tube and doe bleat call after he passed at 50 yards but I decided against it. It was raining lightly and it was getting late. I know he'll be back through there and I didn't want to risk it. Well, that and I didn't want to have to call my wife out in the rain to help. She'd have done it and she wouldn't have complained a bit, but I didn't want to put her through it.

I saw another buck not long after that but it was too dim to see how big his rack was.

I ended up seeing somewhere in the neighborhood of 15 deer and I could have killed two of the does.

It was a great first sit here in Mark Twain National Forest.

On another note, I'm thinking I love the e-bike. :tu:

Now I need to shut up and get the scorecard updated.

Not allowed to go if +. It's his land, his camper.

He likes whiskey a bit too much for that. Not sure I'd come home the same man as I left.

Jokes aside, he's a good dude and I love hunting up there at his place, but I also like going solo in MI with my dog. My cousin is heading up to our area in MI next weekend. My plan was to hunt WI tomorrow until Friday, then scoot back around the lake and head up to meet him in MI late Friday night) so it's not a big deal either way. Less chance at a 130+ in MI, but will save me $200 in WI tags and probably $200 in gas. Plus, I am kind of feeling like going solo for a few days...

Dude, do it. I wear a leaf suit almost every sit now. It has saved my ass from getting busted dozens of times now, including my buck from last year.

I saw zero tonight! Not what I was expecting. I believe I heard a buck make a scrape or rub towards dark. I didn't even see any in bean field on drive out. Dentist tomorrow and then hunting after work w, t, and f...and then lots of stand time this weekend. Super stoked. Sure hope you get her Slicky.

If tomorrows sit is anywhat successful, meaning I get deer in range without getting busted I may just stick to it. I started rifling through drawers and boxes knowing I had "need to have" stuff from years past. Found a 5' x 20' leafy blind wrap and another 4 1/2' x 12' camo netting that I can just wad up and carry on the move and reset it up.

I don't need to set it up in the open, but step into the edge of cover then set it up behind natural covering to hide behind. I know at least one place I want to try it and can play any wind.

Kind of excited to try something different and just might pull something off. Can't even sleep it has my mind racing with possibilities.

Thing is, I'm not sure how it will do in cold, think it might have too much polyester/plastic to it that it will stiffen up and be too loud. The boonie/facemask will do good, but not sure about jackets and pants. I'll tie it in the bed of the truck and let it ride to property in the cold and make a decision in the morning.

One of the most exciting hunts of my life tonight. I picked the wrong stand, but I watched 12+ bucks chase does for two hours. Even the big boys were chasing. Unbelievable. The two biggest bucks went right by the other stand on this property. I saw 6+ 120” bucks and three in the 140s 150s. Almost all the action was about 100 yards away.

A friend is hunting tomorrow afternoon out of the stand I should have been in. I told him he better have two buck tags in his pocket. Hope he gets the big one.

I know you've been talking about the new moon for awhile now, I like it better than the full for sure but I'm liking the high pressure setting up more than anything especially with the cold air in play.
