Almost down to MD! Will be sitting in the plot I shot my opening day buck off. Feels like a perfect Halloween, hoping one of the biggest boys presents me a birthday shot!
Outstanding on the weight loss. Back pain sucks. Sorry to hear you're still dealing with issues...I hear rolling out pie crust may help strengthen back muscles
Group of 3 Does worked their way in perfectly, followed the beans in. I let the 2 smaller ones go and the big one turned back and gave me a great shot. She jumped my shot a bit and I hit her too far back. She laid down about 5 yd away and I should have just waited. Turns out that 1st shot took out the femeral artery, lucky bad shot. But I was impatient and put a second arrow on her again perfect shot right through the ribcage both lungs nicked the heart. But I wasn't sure on the 2nd shot so I climbed down and again being an impatient idiot bumper into the thick crap for about 20 yds. Ended up having to drag your back out there which kind of sucked. This is the 1st deer on my new ground. Fun morning watching the little buck underneath, too. Unfortunately, got some bad news also this morning. Neighbor stopped by as I was gutting. He found 2 of the nicest bucks I have on trail Cam dead in the Creek that runs through both of our places. Most likely killed by EHD. Sucks. Nice 10 point and a smaller 8 point. Geezzz family...change of plans..hell or high water out in morning, before going to get my doe tags and ML licence. You guys go drop some monsters tonight.
Update from me. I'm still out. I got down and moved to another property. 4 cars in last parking lot and no one here. I have been scouting for the last 1 1/2 hours. Got into some huge tracks and big scrapes and rubs. Been following them around and jumped 2 deer that were laying right on the edge of a cart path. The one looked really big. They went off thru a marsh and left the property. So now back to scouting I'm making my way back to a familiar swamp. If I Don't find anything else good, I will setup in that swamp for the evening. I got home a couple hrs ago. Alot to do before the festivities this evening. Let the fawn go that was right below me. Also passed on 2 small bucks. Ill post video of the 2yo making a scrape and hitting a licking branch. Im uploading it to youtube now
I pulled 4 camera chips on the walk out, only 2 bucks on camera and at night still. Lots of does and fawns in the clover plots mostly from 1pm - sunset/night or random times. This is a weird year, hopefully a doe pops and the bucks start wandering soon.
