No kidding! You might have to hunt from a floatation device if you are hunting from the ground, lol

It seems like alot of people are suffering from storms lately.
We haven't had rain here in several weeks. Feel free to send a little my way. (think we are actually due up for storm tonight, assuming weather predictors are right.)

Not only that but it’s holding up a lot of crop being harvested too.

Had a good sit last night. Seen 2 nice 2 yr old 8's while hunting by the house. The one was really tempting me stand broadside at 22 yards for a good minute. Wont get out until the weekend now. Warmer the next couple days and rain on Thursday here. I have off all of next week and the weather is looking good for hunting.

Our hours have been cut at work. No more Friday's. Mon-Thurs 9hrs a day. Guess I will be hunting Friday mornings from now on until they change it back.

Trick or treat tonight. Did pull a card after work. The 2 bucks I wish to harvest have been coming through all times of the day the last week. 8:30am,11:30am, 1pm, 2:05pm, 5pm, 5:45pm. I might try my luck tomorrow and sit through the rain in the morning. If not, might try an all day hunt Sunday. 20211028_155900.jpeg 20211028_160111.jpeg 20211028_160501.jpeg 20211028_155501.jpeg 20211028_160205.jpeg

Poured most of the day today and forecast the same tomorrow here. Planning on getting out Saturday morning. Taking off a couple days next week to try for

Woke up at 4 am after going to bed at midnight. Drove from MI to OH to pick up my wife’s grandma. Then Drove to Beckley WV today. Driving the rest of the way to Virginia Beach tomorrow to my wife’s aunts. Beautiful views on the drive with the leaves changing. Wish I was in a tree. I guess that’s my excitement

For the future, I am going to have to try and find some public spots to get to. Sucks only having one spot to go to that is 6 hours away and owned by someone else.
Where can I go about trying to find spots that arent several hours drives for public hunting? Currently use the tpwd.texas.gov website, but there doesn't really seem to be a whole lot nearby with regards to Whitetail...I am located in San Antonio, TX.

Try looking on state owned land websites, county owned, and even town owned property. All should be on a some type of website that will show the types of hunting allowed. The confusing part is the way they label them. Examples are State lands, WMA (wildlife management area) etc. I have heard that some areas of Texas really lack public options and where you live might be the case. Can always call the local DNR and just ask for info on local public.

The state website is the one I have browsed. Not sure there is a county or town website with public hunt information.
What appears to happen throughout most of TX is that the land is owned privately so you either have to go through an outfitter or know someone to lease from.
There are plenty of places to Dove and waterfowl hunt, but not so much deer hunt. The closest WMA to me for Whitetail is 130 miles.

Hit a doe tonight. Shot was back just a touch. It looked like it was 4-5 in straight back from the heart. Waited a hour and a half. Tracked it for 200 yards or so. Never came across any beds. Will go back out tomorrow to look. I think she will be dead with a little time. Just a matter of finding her.
Seen a really nice looking buck chasing and running of a 2yr old in the field behind my stand. The 2yr old came to my plot and I could hear the big one grunting up a storm. But he never followed him in. Couldn't tell if it was the 8 that I am hoping to get or a different on. But he looked really nice the glimpses I could get. Will keep you guys posted about the doe.

3 more days till my vacation! Hopefully I can squeeze at least 1 morning sit before then. Cameras have been pretty quiet lately, only had a 2yr old and groups of does on camera last few days. Idk if the like 7 days straight of rain have anything to do with it

There was just strait blood. Never found any gut matter on arrow. Or while trailing. Never found anymore blood from where we stopped last night. Never came across any beds. Just ended up grid searching the area[its thick] but couldn't come up with anything
