Back home had a great morning . I went back to old reliable. Didn't spook anything on the way in. Got set and heard walking all around me. Later 4 doe and fawn appeared down at Rivers blind. They are hitting that plot hard. Some time after I had this little guy come in and hang out next to stand. Literally he just hung out there watching the woods where I expected the doe to file in. He finally moved enough to allow the pic. Then like a puppy dog his head perked up and his tail was wagging wildly as he bolted into the wood lot. There was Mom barely visible to me. Her fur matched the woods floor. He immediately started nursing and she stood for him. I saw, some other deer and the young 6 milling around under reliable two. Then they all disappeared. MA nature then told me I'd had enough fun go home...lol
The weatherman dang !. 20211028_084136.jpg he may have had a good day but.. .no warning on the hard killing frost that arrived this morning. I would have picked some stuff.

Cleared a shooting lane from the stand I was in this morning. While I was doing that I noticed a pretty big ground scrape about 2 days old around 18yds from my stand. I was kicking myself for not bringing a camera to hang out here then no kidding I already had one out here. The question is if it took any pics. Heading home to find out. Good luck to everyone still out.

Rain is moving out kinda early. Tempted to hit the shower and go sit in a tree. Nothing else I'll get the 4 wheeler dropped off and cameras set up. Downside is burning the gas on an evening hunt that will likely yield nothing.

Feel your pain. East wind would seem to be perfect for my home ground yet I see very little movement

Have an east wind here today, that is the best wind to have where I hunt, and its also the rarest. Give me an east wind, 30 degrees and an inch of snow on the ground and I'll be the happiest person alive.

I've tried rattling so many times over the years. Out of all those times, twice I've had coyotes come in. Never have had a deer respond to it.
I think our buck/doe ratio is all kinds of jacked up.

Nah, you're probably using whitetail rattling and the locals out there speak muley.

I decided not to try an evening sit tonight. I took a half day at work today so I could get everything ready for the upcoming grind and not be rushed doing so, hunting clothes are in the wash. Giving it a few hours before loading up the 4 wheeler, still unsure about tomorrows rain and wind.

All in all, figure I made a plan and stick with it, when you start last minute changing things you muck it all up.

Ha, actually the first set I used for rattling for about the first 10 years were Muley sheds.

As long as the weather holds up, I'll be rattling over a decoy Saturday morning. Rain all day today and tomorrow, so hopefully the deer will be antsy to move Saturday morning. Here's to hoping!
