I’ve been hunting this property for 9 years… How it took me 7 years to find this particular spot/tree is beyond me. This is my 2nd year hunting it and I already know that it is just one of “those” spots. Here is a better picture of the deer that was under my tree and then a picture of the 8pt that came out a little after dark. Can’t wait to see what the next 8 days brings before rifle season. Trying to get my friends on some decent deer since I can’t get a buck until rifle season if we party hunt. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Looks about same size to me and i say that for 2 reasons. His body is noticeably bigger, which would make rack look smallef, and he is further away in this years pic
I want you to kill a deer as much as you want to kill one. I don't have a clue about the lands you hunt other than how you describe them. One thing that has made me think is your stating that the deer population/density is the lowest of the state(paraphrasing). Makes me wonder if you can truly go by sign alone rather than visual confirmations. If they travel those trails at night, are they worth the daylight efforts? You're going to kill something this year, make it happen.
Yeah. I figured someone might say that lol. Trying to beat a coyote to your kill is a first for me. My mom was watching my nephew, so I elected not to swing by the house for a picture. Just went ahead and took her to the processor Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I replaced both my LW climber seats with the Hazmore. I would use them but the X-stand I posted earlier is bigger/wider/more comfie than both and just as light as the smaller hand climber while still being about 3" wider and at least 3" longer front/back.
So here's the short version. I had set a stand this afternoon where I got a pic of a pretty good buck last night. My intention was to hunt it but I made such a commotion setting the stand I decided to sit the ground blind on the opposite side of the property. It was just getting to be last light and I was about ready to pack up. Then I heard a deer blow once behind me. The wind was going in that direction so I figured I wouldn't even see what it was. I turned and saw a buck crossing between the pines. Then another stepped out and stopped right in an opening at about 30yds. I pulled the trigger and there was a loud smack. The deer sort of stumbled and took off. I gave it about 20 minutes and decided to get out and look for my arrow and blood. I searched that spot for about 15 minutes and didn't find anything. By this time it's completely dark and I'm thinking I'll have to come back in the morning. About that time I noticed some hair on the ground and started looking right there. I soon saw several drips of blood and began to follow it. It didn't exactly pour out but it was a pretty easy track. I saw some blood on the side of a tree and took about 5 more steps and nearly stumbled over him. All told he wrnt about 100yds. I'm happy with this deer even though he wasn't as big as I initially thought. It happened so fast I didn't have time to take a really good look. Here's some blood pics for your enjoyment. You only get 1 buck in Indiana no matter the weapon. BUT I'm going Ohio at the end of next week. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
