So yesterday when I got out of the stand at lunch, I went to an area that I had foot scouted last week. I had wanted to go back and hang a camera and a stand the next day but then I got sick and it rained hard for about 3 days. I managed to get over there and hang a cell c camera yesterday and this is what I got last night. Not a giant but I'd send an arrow his way. Forgive the pic quality. This place is a swamp edge and I guess the cold temps last night right next to all that water caused the fog. [IMG]

Good luck if you are out! I saw four does feeding in the grass on the side of the highway yesterday at 12:38pm while returning from fishing.

Just after first light the 8 point I have on camera walked by out of range.

I probably wouldn’t have shot had he been in range. He’ll be lucky to break 110” and if I shot him I’d only be able to shoot does until gun season opens on the 13th. I don’t want to hit the peak of the rut with only doe tags again unless it’s because I killed a big one.

Just heard something to my left. That doe fawn is back feeding at 30 yards. Either she’s recently orphaned or momma is pinned down by a buck and it’s a bit early for that.

I shoulder shot my buck last year at 12 yards. No shot in the woods is easy my friend. Don’t under sell yourself

Had to get out of my spot. I couldn’t quit coughing. I took some medicine before I left and brought cough drops with me but nothing worked so I left. Going to try some mucinex and take a bottle water with me and try to sit through the afternoon on an oak flat.

not unusual for a heartshot deer to run 150-200 yards till they drain out. Even with a gun.

Traveling up I 95 and i realized how much the Virginia woods have changed just here in the last 3 or 4 days. Complete green to now half the trees have changed color. It's time to kill.

That’s a bummer. Halloween is best in the stand.
