Looks like a big doe. Wierd sit tonight. What I thought was my old buddy shooting a deer ended up being coyotes chasing deer. Had about 15 deer come by but man were they on edge! Before dark, I heard 2 (sounded bigger) bucks fighting then one working over a good sized tree. Did not see either one. Did see a 3 year old at 50 yards eating in a mini clover field. Decent 125ish rack but needs a year or 2. My old buddy had 5 does n fawns come by him. He had fun just getting out.
Thanks for all of the kind words guys!! i did forget to mention that we were in a ground blind and still could get a 5yd shot. He even got the honors to gut his own deer.
TC, that's one 9f the best parts of his kill. I'm adamant that a youngster partakes in the WHOLE part, not just the "fun" part of the shooting.
Here he is hard at work. I never had a chance to do this at 10 yrs old. I didn't give him much of a choice. I told him he owed it to the deer and it's all part of the hunt. He didn't argue and jumped right in.
Wish I could find the photo of my daughters first deer. She dressed the deer and then did a necropsy of the organs. At the time, she was thinking of being a vet. My boy on the other hand didn't do well with field dressing. Lol
Granted I’ve got my buck already and am in a 1 buck only area… I’m hitting the stand next week with my horns to do some rattling. Can’t wait to get in the swamp to see if I can lure something out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
