I’m gonna give it a little bit longer then climb down. I have to go with the wife to her friends surprise birthday party dinner. She knows I can’t stand the ladies husband so She said I could drink at the bar, as long as I go. Lol

Uneventful morning. Didn’t see any deer but still a beautiful morning and as long as I’ve hunted and done this, I still enjoy and never tire of watching night turn into day.

Not sure if I’ll be back out any this upcoming week or not. Maybe slip in an afternoon hunt somewhere, but I am leaving Friday to Wyoming for a late season elk gun bunt with one of my long time friends and his son. Will be bunting close to Yellowstone.

Good news for me as far as local whitetail, our rut doesn’t kick in until late November, so I won’t be missing any “prime” part of the season while being gone. I have hunted elk numerous times with bow but this is my 1st gun hunt.

Good luck to everyone out there over the weekend.

I’ll work on getting you pics haha, there’s plenty of time in the season yet!

Might set up on the ground a little closer to where I saw him. Had a little 5 pointer go to the same tree and bed down right after he left.

I hope there’s not a performance review for the lack of production by the a.m. shift!! LOL!! If so, I know I’ll be the first one to get fired

Well I'm out til next Saturday. It's been a great week. Seen deer the last 5 days straight. Unfortunately that buck I shot never showed back up. But it is firearm season now so I imagine it won't be too long. May end up taking a rifle out during the week or next weekend depending on what my work load looks. Not sure though.

30 X 30 Lil building. Small hot water tank. Oil friers. Fresh cut fries. Mmmmmmmmm good

The FF booth is at the fair grounds, time to get everything cleaned up and put away( winterized) for the winter.

September of next year. For FF.

Everyone wants to eat the fries but know one wants to help make the fries / sale them.

Just looking through some weather models and Friday is looking like a go. Rain should be tapering off by morning and fairly light if it hasn't. May need to take an alternate route to get there as my preferred route will likely be flooded over.

Main goal for Friday is to get two cameras hung, one where a large scrape was last year. Only reason i found it was because I smelled it as I walked down wind if it. 2nd camera I want to set up somewhere yet to be determined but I have the general area in mind. On stand, I plan on shooting the first doe to offer up a shot for a coworker. If successful all I will have left is 2 buck tags(either sex). Will use one on a doe towards the end of rutcation if need be as I'll have another buck tag the following weekend for shotgun season.

Setting the cameras up for a plan B for when others show up I'll have a completely new place to set up. It's where I think the deer have started to travel through avoiding the current stand sites and because it is becoming so thick since my uncle is no longer around to maintain it as he had.

I really want the scrape to pan out again this year, would have to set up on the ground most likely and any wind but a due north would work, but everyone knows how the swirling wind goes with any given wind.

17 days, I should have at least 10 of them solo I hope.

I'm up for the evening. Back at some old stomping grounds. Haven't set foot in here this year. Just walked in looking for sign and setup on it. Found a few nice trails, a couple oaks still dropping. Got a few scrapes and rubs in the area. So setup between the bedding and the oaks, just trying to cut something off. Got the bow, but it's last day of early muzzle loader, so I have a extra buck tag. So tonight anything goes. This is purely a meat in the freezer mission.

Good luck to all on stand this evening!

Not gonna lie it was a disappointing first half. I'm confident the PM shift will pick up the slack and drop a deer or two.
