Talked to the taxidermist today. He had been out of town, picked a straight upright mount and he said he would score it for me.
40's for the lows this weekend! My son has a special draw hunt sat and sun. Hopefully he kills a big one. After that my hunting for the year starts.
I spotted one this morning I'll hunt in earnest this weekend. But I want to Turkey hunt starting on Saturday...there are some great Tom's out there I've been watching. This has me carrying two bows.. With good buck in the area I don't want to fire off a gun. So I use two different broad heads turkey getters or single blade on the bolts and G5 on my arrows. I sling the crossbow and carry the bow. Been doing this a few years not hard at all and saves my brain from long term issues from having a good buck show up with me not having a legal weapon , having to pass. I had to contact DEC several years ago on the legality of this. It took them 10 days to figure out an answer. As long as both weapons are legal in the season you can carry both...with them saying seems difficult to do. No no it's not...Though a good blind is important I have to be in a good seat to draw my compound well.

Good luck to everybody out hunting. I’m going a wee bit crazy sitting on post in the middle of a freaking desert. When I get home I’m going to hit the ground running. I'm on the edge of a cut corn piece. Hoping a decent Buck steps out at some point this afternoon. Work and soccer coaching has kept me from alot of hunting. Soccer ends after this coming week and my work schedule is changing so November through the end of the season is looking good.
