To you mock scrape makers

I've been seeing guys posting about making mock scrapes and I have a few questions about them. I saw where the favorite thing to use was a grape vine. I was in the woods the other day and saw a good sized one so I cut about a 5 or 6 foot section of it. I intend to hang it near a stand. I know the bucks like to rub their eyes and antlers on it but are you guys putting any scent on the vine itself? I will be using scent on the ground scrape portion but I wasn't sure about the other.

There’s a pre orbital glad scent I think code blue makes it. I have used it in the past with good luck, now a days I just pee in the scrape and let them do their thing and seems to work just as well.

 

I pee in scrapes but I might be the only critter that enjoys it.
I’ll find one at some point and throw a cam on it. Then I’ll freshen it up (-: and see if it gets any attention.

 

I don’t put anything on mine. I might pee on the ground if I have to go otherwise nothing. Location is key. A travel corridor that they are already using seems to work best and will get hot the quickest. Good luck!

 

I've got pics the last 2 days of bucks at a scrape and I pissed in it the other day before they started showing up.

Not sure if coincidence or not.
It is a travel corridor to a doe bedding area.

 

All natural! Paw the dirt, hang the vine, and set the camera! I've done 8 of them this year in addition to the 4 I did last year--they work!

 

I've never made a mock scrape but love to hunt over scrapes. Got to be the right scrape in the right place and the right time tho. Very good luck huntin scrapes. I need to try the mock scrapes sometime.

 

Are you using any scents on the vine or the ground?

No sir. I'll take a leak in one if I have to go when I am walking past by chance other than that, they get hit almost everyday by bucks and does alike so I don't think I could buy a scent that would beat it! Hang the vine so it touches your belt buckle..perfect eye and nose up height for deer.

 

I only do them within 30 yards of a bowstand and always on the good wind side obviously.. I'll also cut down any natural scrape branches within the area so the deer are more focused on my mocks. It's worked incredibly well. I've yet to pull the trigger on a buck on one but there aren't many bucks left in area that haven't visted one of mine so its great for inventory.
