This has hit real close to home. Before any of you knuckleheads shoot your mouth off remember that this was a friend of mine and nobody cares about what you think regarding crossbows. However, this is a huge loss to our community and you would have been hard pressed to find a better man. Just wanted to post it up as a safety reminder.

Holy Cow. So sorry to hear about this. What a tragedy. Crossbows, bows, guns, knives, tree stands, ATV’s. All of them have the potential to cause serious bodily harm and death. Even when we think we are doing everything right. I find myself becoming lackadaisical about things sometimes and these reminders always help me focus on trying to come home safe. Its more important than the hunt, or the most important part of the hunt, rather. Thanks for posting this and im truly sorry for the loss of your friend. I will be sharing this to remind others to be cautious.

Damn. Sorry to hear this. Unfortunately I also lost a friend to a hunting accident. Hoping his family, you and the community find comfort in the importance and meaningful impact this man brought to each one of you.

    Sorry to hear.

The story does lack details to help others....maybe some good could come from a follow up, but it sucks to hear stories like this.

Agree. Still early but I will follow up as soon as I hear something. Spoke to one friend but everything is just a guess at this point.

Thats awful. Sorry for the loss. The story said he was found next to his tree with a cross bow injury to the leg. That makes me think he was either climbing in or out with a bolt loaded or lowering or raising it on a pull rope with it loaded. The reason I speculate that is a few years ago we had a hunter in this state who unfortunately shot themselves in the head while climbing with a loaded bolt. We also had a guy in my town shoot himself with a muzzleloader that was loaded while being pulled into the tree with a rope and it caught on a branch cashing it to go off. Again all we can do is speculate in this case but please be sure to unload any weapon your climbing with or pulling into a tree.

sorry for your and that family's loss. I watched the video to the end. Sounds like a helluva man and a great ambassador for our lifestyle.

Tell the family that for whatever it's worth, the bowhunting community grieves for her.
