Probably should be in the rant thread but, the landowner who we bought our property from decided to sell his place. It boarders two sides of ours, had to make sure the lines were clearly marked and no trespassing signs were up. He said that they will be closing on October 1st.. Hopefully the new people are decent and respect other people’s land… kinda bummed because I know that they will be scouting and running around in the woods pushing stuff around, hopefully it works in my favor..
Beans are doing wonderful. Ag beans are already yellow. Brassica and turnips are coming up with the rain, hopefully it is in time to get decent size. Sent from my SM-G996U using Tapatalk
Acorns have been falling for the last couple of weeks. Soybeans are yellow and losing their leaves and the deer are starting to use them. The clover is drawing them in as well. This Saturday is opening weekend. Good luck to all.
I went back up to my property to meet with some DNR forester’s about my dying red oaks. The combination of a few wet years in a row and the severe drought this year it made the 2 lined chestnut beetles explode. They are girdling the trees from the inside out, all of the affected ones are not going to come back and are dead. Unfortunately they said that it might be worse next year, so the plan is to wait 1 year then pretty much clear cut it but leave some of the healthiest ones for seed. If we do nothing the trees will still die anyway so they said that you may as well get some money from them while you can. The good thing is that is only in a small area right now but it will get much worse over time if nothing is done with them. Just makes me sick thinking about it.
^^^ also it put up a big red flag and they ordered a 300 mile fly over of the whole area, it’s the worst that they have seen it for 30 years
Sure does suck to lose big mature oaks but..... It'll end up the canopy and won't take long for other trees to capitalize.
It’s growing really well for the first one I’ve ever planted Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Not looking too bad! Won't get as big, but I think they're doing ok. Sent from my SM-G996U using Tapatalk
Not bad, really made some improvements with the warm weather and rain these last 2 weeks. Sent from my SM-G996U using Tapatalk
Looks great. Lot of late season forage there. Heck, I've got pumpkins still flowering. No frost here yet.
