actually looks pretty similar to mine. I just usually use quaker oats instead of bread. But I'll have to try that milk, b/c it's not usually that juicy
I'm down. I ended up seeing 10 does/fawns and one little buck. I agree that it's really early in the season for bucks, but I also remember getting an opportunity at a wall hanger the first week of last season in that same tree. That's the time I forgot to nock an arrow. Also, it really depends on where you're hunting. Here, much like where I was this past weekend, I'm hunting very close to core areas. In fact, last weekend I was literally sitting right in their bedroom. It's never too early for bucks in a spot like that. There are too many does in the buck/doe ratio here, but what I don't want to happen is have the does stop walking through my little parcel because they keep dying when they do. Come November I want them to still be around. I'm sure I could take one or two on a morning sit and be okay. It's totally different in the evening busting the woods up tracking, recovering and then riding an ATV through the woods to retrieve one. I may shoot one tomorrow morning. They should be moving good again since the temps are going to be even lower and I need some more jerky meat.
When I climbed down last night the rain was supposed to be over with. I left all my gear in the tree like I usually do when I know no one will be walking through. Unfortunately I left my Ozonics Orion in the tree too. I've found that if I mount it upside down with the fan pointed up it doesn't sound as loud and I can hear better, so it was upside down last night when it decided to rain a little. Since it was upside down the light rain had access to the inside. I got in the tree this morning, put the battery that I'd charged using the newly repaired charger in and it wouldn't work. Crap! I removed the battery immediately, turned it right side up and just hunted. I brought it in and it's drying out. Here's hoping it works once it dries out.
The bread acts as a sponge to hold the juices. It's. A bit of a trick hikers also use to help with rehydration of ground meat in DIY dehydrated meals. The other 'trick'get the grill real hot and sear the outsides... Don't overcook (I like rare or Med rare)... But also let the meat set for like 10 minutes (you can wrap in foil or put in a small cooler to keep warm, but know there will be more carry over cooking) after cooking before eating (or cutting off your cooking steak /roast).
Buy a box of minute rice and put it in a plastic bowl and cover with rice. Will draw the moisture out of it...
My dad sent me this picture last night. He is elk hunting with some friends this week. My brother and I were supposed to be there but the border restrictions getting to Canada are too restrictive to bother. Big white tail dead head. He said it was too far from the truck to pack out.
Went out and trimmed that lane that was all blocked up and now I can actually see and shoot that way. I almost pulled that set ,then decided to hunt it one more time tonight. Sent from my SM-G781V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Appreciate that. I think a bit of luck will have to be involved. Ha! Sent from my SM-G781V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
He jinxed me a few years back when I was ground hunting and had 3 does at 8 yards. He said, "Joe, what if those are the only deer you see all year?" and that is exactly what happened!
Doe and fawn were already in neighbors beans 250yds away. Spotted me and took off. Weather called for S/SSE and it’s much more E/SSE. Don’t like that. At least it’s light and variable. Good luck everyone! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
