Got all my shooting lanes trimmed back today. Checked cams. No new bucks but most have shed their velvet. Still seeing big boys in daylight. If they stay that way for 2 more weeks, opening day will be a good one.

Hurt my back bad Tues morning.
Couldn't do any work so headed to the cabin to do a whole Lotta nothing.
Drinking cold beer, cooking porkchops, acorn squash, hashbrowns with sweet peppers and cheese.

Back in the woods, no neighbors. Just me n the dog jamming to hair bands on the radio

I was about to dislike this because hurt back sucks, but then I saw the part about chillin with the dog blasting the radio back in the woods, so I gotta like it instead.

    Lol
I'm feeling SO much better today.
When it happened (slipped ) on a wet deck! I really had thoughts that it could be life altering.
I can't believe how fast its healing..
    THANK You GOD!

Glad to hear you are healing up man. Thats scary stuff. I fell out of a barn when I was 12 hanging tobacco and landed across a tier pole. Then fell onto the wagon. My back has never been the same.

I should be on my way to Colorado right now for an elk hunt. I hurt my knee and both brothers have COVID. Unreal. MRI for me this week. Hopefully it's not surgical as there isn't much in there left to fix anyway. "Old football injury" as they say. Getting out to hunt at home is a little less physically taxing versus the mountain so I will actually get to see opening day for the first time in 6 years. Silver lining!!!!!!!

Got final tune done on my VXR, shooting great out to 60. Probably won't shoot a deer farther than 30 tho, unless it's a follow-up. Shot the PSE also, it's shooting great as well. I'm giddy as a toddler
Checked the cameras, found some pictures I didn't see from this last winter. So he was still alive as of Dec 31, hopefully he's still around Screenshot_20210910-143857_Gallery.jpg

Hope your brothers get better fast and don’t have it too bad! Also, hope the knee isn’t too bad and heals up quick for you! Can’t wait to see you arrow a giant on the home front.

All set for tomorrow. Last thing in my list was to fill up the coolers. Decided to go to the “twice the ice” machine, which is one of those kiosk deals that has a shoot and you put in $2 and it’ll drop 30 lbs straight into your cooler. Got there and some folks I know from town that also bowhunt were just finishing up. Chatted to them for a bit about plans for tomorrow and looked at few trail camera photos and after 2-3 minutes of talking the ice machine randomly made the unmistakable “schoosh” sound it makes when it dispenses a load of ice. So I slid my cooler under the shoot and pulled the lever and sure enough, 30 lbs of free ice. At that point we decided we should continue chatting and sure enough that think kept giving us free 30lb loads of ice every 2-3 minutes. I got 150 lbs of free ice and the other guys had a spare cooler so they pulled it out and got another 60 lbs for themselves too. Damn if that isn’t one hell of a good omen for opening day.

12 more days for me. I'll be out opening day unless it's a torrential downpour with thunderstorms.
