Saw nothing this morning However 2 other spylink cameras were telling me I was in the wrong stand…go figure! Congratulations Chief Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well guys, it was a fun trip. A little on the miserable side but fun none-the-less. This evening was my only sit not seeing a deer. The only buck I saw was the (assumed) yearling 6 point, but at least I’m not going home tomorrow empty handed. I won’t be coming back here until I get my travel trailer back and manage to get a hitch hoist/gambrel delivered so I can be self sufficient. All in all it was a good trip.
Well there’s Johnny doing the thing that Johnny does best, just being a stone cold killer. I got out yesterday to check on al of my stands and got two new sets hung on a brand new property. I’m really excited about one of the new stands in particular, it is in a small oak grove with thick thick bedding to the north west. Every sapling within a 20 yard radius of the stand are absolutely shredded and bloody from within the last couple days. The other is in a very easy to get to spot but the ground is covered with doe tracks, so at some point it should produce 50pts. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I still haven't been able to go hit plots with the follow up Urea so the brassicas will explode on me, but even if I have to sacrifice some chasing of a reduction antlerless to get that second buck tag I'll do it in the next couple weeks. I'm very mixed on how I feel this year...lot of changing parts and property issues (neighbors changing, use of family/owner changing...)...just trying to stay realistic with expectations that this could be a tough year. Hope to pull cards this week or next as well - that could confirm or deny my thoughts of what options are out there.
Go figure Yesterday I hunt stand #4 & see nothing This morning the camera at that stand sends a picture of a doe walking by Grrrrrr Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Dragging another ladder stand out after work today. High winds (30mph) today so Im only dragging it out to the tree. I'll put it up tomorrow after the winds go away. Safety never takes a day off...plus my wife reminds me Im better to her death than injured.
I went across the road and checked my cameras on my little place. Other than a lot of does, a spike and the first pic I’ve ever gotten of a coyote here, only two pics were interesting. One is a bird and the other is the first buck besides Portland that I’ve gotten a pic of that wasn’t a spike. He’s nothing special, but it’s an improvement over spikes and does. And a nice bird pic:
Working on patterning this guy. May have found his daytime spot amongst a bunch of white oaks dropping acorns. Time will tell Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Honestly I began the year thinking he wouldn't have been on my to shoot list as he is a 3 yr old, but putting on that kind of bone made himself walk right back onto the hit list lol. Still waiting on my number 1 contender on my northern Wisconsin piece to show, but he usually doesn't come around until mid-October. Been scouting public off my property to see if I can locate his early season stomping grounds, but no such luck yet.
Off topic, but here is the final tally for the golf outing I went to, all going to SemperK9. We all had a blast, it always goes too fast though.
My daughter and son in law closed on their house yesterday. On Monday I'm making the trip to Tennessee to finally reclaim my travel trailer.
