She doesn't have the opportunities to get out much with the kids and won't hunt alone. Last year crossbows piqued her interest.

What should we watch out for?

The Wicked Ridge Invader 400 seems like a nice bow. Thoughts?

    Thanks

Just make sure it's light and the pull poundage is low enough for her to cock. I shoot a Stryker Katana. Fast, light and low pull to cock.

I second this. We bought my wife a Barnett and ended up needing to buy a hand crank for her to cock it.

We ended up going with Wicked Ridge Invader 400 with the Accudraw system. Have a Primos Crossbow Trigger Stik coming.

    So far so good.

Killer Instinct is the way to go. Very affordable, well designed and super accurate. It’s the only crossbow we shoot. Taken many deer with it. They also have great customer service and can get parts to you quickly if needed. I like the ones where the rope pull is on top. They make some models with the rope pull on bottom and it’s a little cumbersome and slower to reload so go with the one on top and she will be set !

It's all about Killer Instinct. Very reasonably priced, well-designed, and really accurate. It's the only crossbow we've ever used. It's killed a lot of deer. They also provide excellent customer service and may expedite the delivery of components if necessary. The ones with the rope pull on top are my favourites. Some models have the rope pull on the bottom, which is a little more awkward and slower to reload, so choose the one on top and she'll be fine!

Stay away from KI unless you favor fixing broken limbs or broken trigger boxes. The company is pretty good about getting you parts within the same year but who needs that?
