Yeah, pretty much is a sit and climb with the saddle being the top piece. I am tethered in every step of the way. Here's a video that gave me the idea last year....
I'm just the opposite, LOL! We're all different. I actually have three different sets of sticks. A set of API Bass Pro sticks, Hawk Heliums and Lone wolf. My favorite to climb with are by far the API BP sticks but they're my least favorite to haul in. They're a bit heavy and although I definitely prefer double step, they don't fold for transport. So, even though they only weigh a bit more which isn't a huge deal, they don't fit together and stow without being a bit awkward. The LW sticks fold, store and transport the easiest but I HATE climbing with alternating steps. The Hawks are only marginally heavier than LW but much lighter than API/BP and stow and transport almost as good as the LW for me. None of the three pull off the tree or shift with me. Our season is third Saturday of Sept thru first Sunday of January. It doesn't even get jacket weather for us until season is long over. I wear a soft duck boot like shoe that is duck boot on the bottom and canvas camo'd upper. The bottoms are fairly soft and not too hot, but standing with 230# on one foot on one step gets me. I have very flat feet and suffer from gout quite a lot and single steps get me. My boots do have a nice Thinsulate insert for colder weather that may help with that but it's just too hot for me and I take them out.
I have LW steps as well. I have a double steps I’ll be putting on the top of the sticks so I’m not dragged when setting up the next stick. I may end up adding more to them. We will see how it goes after this season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
First climb with the trophyline mini sticks since they were delivered. Made it to 16 feet without an aider. Not bad for a first climb. I love the light weight and packability of these sticks. Got in a few shots to the 3’ oclock position and spent about an hour working on the saddle shape. 30 days to the urban opener and 55 to the general archery opener.
Finished up the last 3 sticks. Added stealth strips, double steps to the top, and alumibutton. They turned out great. Little over a month until opening day. Then my fourth stick has a monarch for my platform. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If you can, try some other saddles out. His saddle might not fit you very well. Could be pinching your hips since they are more than likely wider than his Lol. Making it uncomfortable. I have a latitude method. Which is a 2 panel saddle. And they say that helps eliminate hip pinch. But no matter what you pick minor adjustments make a big difference in comfort. I finally got around to watching that video. When you first mentioned using a Summit platform I wondered something. After watching the video I have to ask: What advantages would this method have over just using the Summit climber? You’d still have to have a clean, climbable tree, right?
@Ashley Adams’ post above raises another question: If she gets a saddle will all you saddle hunting “bruhs” call her “bruh” also?
I believe it would be "Brah", like how they do in Spanish. But, we are all inclusive her at BH and do not want to assume any pro-nouns; Swamp is the master of terms, we will have to wait in his professional council.

Does everybody use sticks to climb in? What about a good pair of stirrups like the line men do? Maybe that would be too difficult when you do get up in the tree. Would be a lot lighter to carry though!
I don’t think I ever updated you guys here about the tethrd reach and train at vortex HQ. Over all it was super helpful and I learned some stuff that will help this fall and into the future. Vortex was doing a give away for some new Binos and range finder. Didn’t think much of it , put your name in and go about your day. Couple weeks later I get a email saying I won!
