Well had a good week on the bike. Only got 2 rides in. On Tuesday I did 18 mile with a 9.5 mph average. Race pace is usually closer to 10 mph average. I need to get this up to be competitive. Tonight I went out and pre rode the race course that is on Sunday. I just did a slow lap to not burn out my legs and to get to know the course better. The plan as of now is still to race this Sunday. My hope was to get to Cat 1 category, but I know I won't be able to finish it under full strength. So I'm going to do Cat 2. It's one less lap.

    Good work Holt. Impressive.

Continuing on with adding volume to get ready for bow season. Started out with a few sets of jump rope to warm up then did 2 rounds of 10 sets of 10 reps with light weights..rapid fire. 10 sets of squat...shoulder pressures..hang cleans...and so forth. Good couple hundred reps over a 8 to 10 min period made me sweat. Just the kind of work I need. Then I did some heavier leg work. Bow season is closing fast....

Good to see you guys getting after it. I took a week off for a family vacation. Ate like a pig and didn't get any exercise other than kiteboarding every day. My weight on Friday before we left was 172. I was 189 when I came home last Saturday. This morning I'm down to 175.

I've been back to full body workouts. Weights are down and will likely never get back to where they were before. I'm starting to accept that reality.
Trained BJJ a couple nights this week and rolled hard after. Felt great, backing off a little didn't hurt my limited and simplistic game at all. Ribs are back to being sore but not so sore that they are interfering with my sleep.

    Stay after it.

All this health and fitness got me wanting to get back into working out...going to be hard pressed to "drag" anything home if I don't either recruit some helping hands or get back into shape.
Only thing holding back is this hernia I have had for 10+ years. Anyone ever had to have one repaired? What was recovery like? What was cost?

thankfully no, Guy at the gym had his repaired laparoscopically with robotic assistance and had pretty good turn around time.

Wife is a pt says it largely depends on seriousness, type of surgery you do, and how committed you are to pt. It can go anywhere from 5 weeks to 12

I had two repaired last summer. All hell broke out at work for a couple days so I was running around like a maniac. Both sides started aching and I'm sure they had been torn for years. Fixed em and I was back to work in a month. Could have been sooner if I worked in a different line of work. The cost is all dependent on your insurance and procedure completed. It's a routine surgery. Good luck man.

Well I finished the race! It ended up being around 14+ mile race and I finished in 1:26 and some change. I took third place and got on the podium! Felt great for the whole race and didn't cramp. 20210725_133741.jpg

Thanks guys! I know I was working my butt off all spring / summer to get to this point. Glad I still got it after 8 years off. This just pushed me to keep going now! Once deer season starts I probably won't ride much, but get back at it again in February. There was alot people taking pics yesterday, so if I find some good ones I will post one or two.
