Honestly though we are about the same size/weight if i remember right. Its not that bad. Like anything you will be sore after the first few hunts but its a must to at least experience it. There are alot of benefits to it if you are a mobile hunter
I use these. I cant compare to better ones cause these are only ones ive used for saddle hunting. I like them so much i put them on for stalking too. Alot more comfortable when crawling around.
Added some stealth strip to my carabiner. I felt like I was sliding all over with every little movement with the rope on bare metal. Now I it takes deliberate movement on where I want to go to. So the tape helped out for sure. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Spent some time hanging stands this weekend, did all the work in the phantom, hung out in a tree for a little just chilling out. The phantom is far better than than the mantis, I really like the comfort channels, the middle spot is just right. The material is reinforced in the spots I had issues with the mantis, and for some reason, it just seems a little more comfortable. I thought I’d be fine with my big original ropes, but they really are too bulky to fiddle with. That needs attention. That’s all for now.
After reading a bunch on ropes I bit the bullet and bought oplux ropes right off the bat. Glad I did. They are really nice. Can’t imagine trying to pack and mess with larger diameter rope. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I second the recommendation on Oplux ropes. I have been using them for two seasons now. Much better than bulkier ropes. I ordered a set of the Trophyline ministicks yesterday. I am looking forward to having smaller sticks that will be easier to maneuver and set up in the dark. I am trying to get my gear compact enough that I can leave the backpack in the vehicle in a couple of my spots.
I’ve thought about shorter sticks but I’m short lol and I’d have to use aiders on each one to get to the same height out of minis. I’ll stick with my full length LW sticks for now. I can get roughly 17ft with them. I could get a little higher if I used a aider on the first stick. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm using the 11 mm rope. I just daisy chain it. The size doesn't bother me, I think the size of it gives me confidence. I think a smaller diameter might make me question the strength, even though it is rated for just as much.
The crazy thing is that a rope like oplux, while smaller, it's stronger then some larger diameter ropes. Guess Joe just likes the feel of a rope with some girth to it! Haha Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
I ran full length Hawk Heliums the last two seasons. They worked great on trees, but, were difficult to pack. I am going to get a two step aider for the bottom stick. That should let me get 7-8' with the first stick and still be about 18-20 once all four sticks are up.

Not gonna lie - I'm a little jealous. I just found out about this the other day, but I'm on a plane to Vegas tomorrow morning so I can't make it. Take some pics and report in on how it's going! And if you see Taylor from Tethrd, kick him in the nuts for me. He's into that sort of thing.
