They were right on the bank. Swung the kayak over and ripped em off. Perfect.

Got to thinking last night, after the Montana vacation, I have had fishing licenses in British Columbia, Alberta, Oregon, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Wisconsin, Arkansas, Florida, Texas and the Bahamas. I have successfully caught fish in all those places.

Edit: We were staying at a cabin on the Blackfeet Nation Reserve in Montana, so I have had a Blackfeet Nation license as well. Last year, I had a Yellowstone National park license when we were there.

I forgot the Northwest Territories as well. I caught pike there one summer in high school.

The contractor completed my new pond on Friday morning. It took a couple of weeks to build. On Friday evening and into Saturday morning, we got a downpour that ended up dropping nearly 7 inches of rain in just a few hours. So, a pond that he said could take a year to fill, is now within 2 to 3 feet from being completely filled and I will now be able to go ahead and order the fish for Fall stocking! The only downside is that I will now have to place all my structure by placing it on the ice this winter to fall into place in Spring. They are coming back with riprap and a big trackhoe to place gravel and rock on humps that have been marked from the bank. I went out last evening and took a few snaps and just sat on the bank to watch the sun set. I am beyond thrilled to be living a dream that began when I was only about 10 years old. My wife is still curious as to why we "needed" a big pond. She will understand when she shoots her first goose this Fall and catches a nice mess of fish in a couple of years. Until then, I will continue to do the dishes and run the vacuum. 20210712_184109.jpg 20210712_182924.jpg

A friend of a friend took this one in the melon Sunday morning. They drove 30 minutes to shore then hustled to the walk-in by 8am hook removed back on the water by 9:08am. Hook popped out of the fish at the boat and you see the rest. The lady at the walk-in said no reason to ask why your here. 0B5E4534-58EA-4B63-8B0B-17E3A5C91129.jpeg

Largemouth Bass, Bluegill, and Black Crappie. Maybe some Yellow Perch later. I will also throw minnows in.

He somehow pulled this in on his 2 ft zebco dock devil on about a half inch earthworm.

Tonight we fried up a bunch of fish. He couldn’t believe how good it was now he just wants to go fishing again and asks every 5 minutes to go fish

After that krapp filled work week, I feel blessed to be able to watch the sunrise and go fishing in the river this morning

I saw the sun come up over the pines on the east side of the lake this morning, I grabbed my lunch box and lap top and kissed the wife goodbye thinking I will be back soon. Grandson this afternoon and no guests this weekend.

Unexpectedly lost a best friend and one of my best fishing buddies on Monday at the age of 28. Ice fishing Red Lake will never be the same.

RIP Nick. Until we meet again, go give heaven some hell.
