As someone who closed on my first house in the last 6 months… there are more important expenses than a new bow (the significant other may have had a 99% say in this decision). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Gonna have to refrain this year from l.f.t.s.this year. You bastards caused me to run out of data last year $$
I definitely have the itch! I have my V3 shooting pretty well... I joined an outdoor league this summer which really forced me to dial in the bow early. I have a bunch of Reveals out in the field. No bucks to get overly excited about yet but that usually changes for me after the velvet is off anyway. Ill start getting the rest of my cameras out soon. Last year I jumped into the saddle game and generally enjoyed it. I definitely need the back rest for the longer sits. This year I will be trying a mix of the LWCG .5 and the Saddle. I am going to Wyoming for 2 weeks mid October so I do not think I will be pre-setting as many stands as I normally do. Run and gun will be the name of the game this year. I am really going to be relying on the Reveals to keep me in the loop while I am gone. I am hoping to hit the ground running the last week of Oct. Fingers crossed I can still hit Ohio for a couple days in Nov, but home life will dictate that. As of now, just counting down the days!
Drove passed the property the other evening. Caught this guy gettin ready to cross the road Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Started watching old seasons of Bow Hunt or Die to get me fired up for the upcoming season. Our new kitten watches every time I put it on. Pretty funny. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
On a serious note, Joe, I totally understand. There are a lot of things way more important than a new bow. I had to put off getting one for two years because other things were more important.
Joe, when I think about where you were just a few years ago and all you went through, I'm so happy things have turned around for you and your family. You could have just laid down and given up but you didn't. You persevered just like you do every year on that CT public land and you came out a winner! Congrats my brother!! Thanks Jim! It has been a crazy five years for sure. We went from having it all, great paying jobs, big house, my own hunting land..and in an instant me almost dying, cars repossessed, forced to sell our house, my wife losing her job and me being unable to work. Humble pie. Tomorrow is not guaranteed, enjoy and live life to its fullest. I owe thanks to many people and especially here on this site. @pastorjim08 , You my friend are a great man, and I am blessed to have your friendship. You and others (@Germ ,@Justin , @tynimiller, @Smitty0220, @LittleChief , @Holt, and those that have offered for me to come and hunt with them....Uggh I know I'm missing some people here!!) were there for me in my lowest moments and made it possible for me to get back in the woods again. I am so thankful and will never forget the generosity of the people on this great site. I am soon to be at the point where I can pay it forward, and can't wait to do so. I truly consider y'all as family/brothers. I can't wait to share another season with y'all, it's going to be a great season!
Love the positivity Joe! Keep it going! And yes it's going to be a great season Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
When I was stationed at VAQ 142 in Whidbey Island, WA there was a CDR Libby assigned to the squadron. If anyone asked him how he was doing he would always say "Never better! Best day of my life!". I listened to him say this for months. One day I asked him why he always said that. His reply was "It's simple, Chief. Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow isn't guaranteed. Today is all you have, so it's the best day of your life." I never forgot that.
That's a great outlook, never heard that before. Thanks for that story Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
Whidbey Island? That is my childhood stomping grounds. I grew up on Vancouver Island. The Juan De Fuca strait and Puget Sound areas were my childhood fishing grounds. Life is funny, you doing your navy career, me being a kid at that time, we were less than 100 miles apart and complete strangers. Now, thanks to this forum, we have shared a few hunts and become friends. Okay, that may have started to sound a little weird. I need more coffee and I am definitely ready for that vacation I am taking after I get off work today.
