Thinking back… I had a really good year of hunting last year. Saw a ton of deer and had a lot of encounters.

Took this pic on November 5th. Didn’t see much that day, but with this view it didn’t matter.

November 6th (the last day before rifle season) I had the single greatest day of rut activity I’ve seen. I saw 3 shooters that day and got to watch the biggest buck I had on camera chase does all around me. Ended up calling him into 27 yards and missed (ranged the wrong trail at 19 yards). My stand is about 50 yards from these pictures.

On November 8th I got to help track a buck my sister in law shot on the first Sunday of rifle season. It’s by far her biggest buck and was on their property they just closed on and had never hunted.

And finally on November 10th I got to shoot a very unique buck using my old 30-30 my late dad gave to me. I didn’t plan to hunt during the week with my rifle, but said screw it and grabbed it from the safe. It had been a year or 2 since I even shot the gun.

Looking back… what an incredible first 10 days of November. Can’t wait for that magic time of year again!

Nice to read this thread. I’m just wishing for time to shoot my bow. Very stressful year so hopefully I’ll be ready for October. Hard to believe we are halfway there.

So good to see everyone again and get caught up with y'all!

Finally broke out the bow yesterday once I got my new hurricane bag target. Fired a dozen arrows at 20 yards, nice tight grouping, felt great to shoot again! Made the mistake of accidentally clicking the Mathews link at the top of the page and fell in love with the V3 27 in Sitka optifade. :jaw:

Missouri checking in. Got a late start last year, early November. Last year was first year hunting and also first year archery. Only have access to public land. Did not get one last year but have been doing a lot of scouting for this year and feeling good about it. Excited to be able to enjoy the entire season this year. Just got a new V3 I am in the process of setting up. Ran LW Alpha and Hawk heliums last year. Switching to TX5 saddle and EWO Sticks for this year to see how I like it.

I’ve had all my cameras out for a month now. Will be checking them this weekend.

Haven’t picked up the bow yet. Should do that soon. I did something to my right shoulder a few weeks back that makes it feel weak. When I’m holding something in my right hand, it’s hard for me to lift things to the side (I can lift heavier things to the side with my left arm when I’m right arm dominate). No real sharp pains or anything. I’ve been trying resistance band exercises and light dumbbell stuff, but it hasn’t really helped.

On another note my company switched to a “discretionary PTO plan” plan this year, meaning I can take as much or as little paid time off as I want (obviously as long as I don’t abuse it). I’m excited to finally take some time off to hunt this fall. Ive always used my time off for other things in previous years.

I have had one for years. One of the best purchases I have made for deer hunting.

I am joining the ranks of the Saddle Bois. Still deciding which one I will try. I have a few more stands to hang (5 to be exact) over the 3 properties I hunt. Trail cams are all out. I may put out one more cell cam. Thinking about trying the Muddy Mobile Delta. Bow Season starts the 2 second week in Sept. and it will be here before you know it.

I love checking trail cameras. I’ll post some shots later once I get them onto the computer.

Here's a guy I caught on camera yesterday in O-H-I-O. Sorry about the picture quality but he just might worth watching. [IMG]

No giant giants but these are real good for central MN in the middle of June.

One thing I’ll say about the V3 27 is that it isn’t a bow for everyone. It certainly wasn’t a bow for me.

When you get a high let-off bow with an axle to axle that is shorter than your draw length your form has to be spot-on perfect on every shot.

I thought I was pretty good with a bow but the V3 27 showed me just how bad I was. Oh, I could shoot it well as long as I concentrated on every aspect of the shot but I know me and I know when a deer is in front of me I’m going to get a little sloppy. I needed something a little more forgiving.

    I now have a V3 31.

Awesome to know! My DL is 27.5". Looks like we got a closing date for our house, July 30th, so no new bow for me this year, lol!!
