Took my 3 nephews fishing off the pontoon this morning, they had never fished. We slaughtered them took me and the wife to keep them baited, take fish off, untangle lines. I was kinda relieved when the clock hit 11 and I had to head for shore.

Looking back 40+ years, I realize how special my grandpa was.
He would encourage all of his grandkids that were at his cabin on Audubon Lake ND to go fishing.
There would often be 6_7 of us kids loaded onto his pontoon.
His favorite spot was way across the lake. We'd get there and anchor.
Looking back and remembering the look of pure JOY on his face having all of us brats together on his boat brings a big smile to my face.

He was a Saint of a man and I miss him.

I loved to fish with my grandpa, his favorite was trolling for pike. He used to have a big steel leader on his line. I would tie on the same spoon with no leader and out fish him. Many happy memories fishing up around Detroit Lakes Memorial and Labor day weekends. Miss you still Papa.

I did the same yesterday. Took the little man out for a quick trip to the pond and he absolutely wore me out. 10 gills in 25 mins.

Got back from Door County yesterday afternoon after what could possibly be the 2 best days of fishing we've ever had. I'm pretty @Rick James and I put close to 100 fish in the boat in 2 days and more 4-4.5 lb smallies than we could count. No giants on this trip, but it was about as much fun as you should legally be allowed to have.

Well we left Indiana at 3pm on Sunday, arrived at Craig lake state park 3:30am, took a two hour nap, and my brother in law and I’s adventures began. I brought two sets of clothes for 5 days. They turned out to be fishing clothes and after lake bath clothes. I’d say we paddled roughly 10 miles per day, caught some pike averaging around 30 inches. The one above was 37”. I caught one on my 5’ micro light with no leader, 6lb mono, and a 1/32oz crappie jig. We switched lakes and caught smallmouth and small pike the last two days of the trip. A few largemouth sprinkled in there too. What a blast and amazing country.
    Ultra light pike...

Took my boys to a game and fish kids derby. We caught 7 catfish. My youngest was the star of the day catching 3 of 7, including his first two fish unassisted. He cast, hooked, and reeled those fish all on his own. Outfished his older brothers and his parents.

Looks like an awesome trip!! I love it up there.

I took my oldest out for a few hours yesterday morning. We got to the boat launch at 6 am sharp (45 min drive) and there were already 25+ trucks in the lot. Then I realized how much I appreciate fishing up North when most mornings you're the only boat on the lake.

Water temps are already up over 80 so I'm sure the bigger fished have pushed deep. We caught about a dozen largies, but nothing of any real size. We had a good time and got off the water by 10 when all of the partiers started coming out. 3 of the 4 lanes at the launch were putting boats in non-stop as we were getting out. I can imagine with these sunny 90 degree days the lakes have been a zoo lately.

It was not a bad morning to be on the lake.

Been on the water most weekends since early May up in Door County, WI. It’s been a lot of fun watching my little man learn and have a blast catching big smallies. This past weekend he started learning how to run the trolling motor and make some decisions on where to go and what to fish.

Fish are finally moving offshore right now in the southern parts of the county which is probably my favorite way to fish for them.

We caught a few good ones over 4lbs this past weekend, and my son finally landed a mega giant at the end of the day Saturday right before heading back to the marina.

Found gramps fishing rod in the corner. Its his only possession I got when he died.
He used this rod n reel for 40+ years and has caught 1000s of walleye with it. May have to take it out and use it:)

Hah, pretty good that’s for sure. He caught it offshore dragging a small swimbait on bottom and I figured it was a big sheepshead until it came close enough to see.

And he made sure to tell his mom and sister that he caught the biggest and the most fish that day too as soon as we got back to camp.:tu:

Just met with a contractor on our new 40 this morning. He is building us a pond this week. Looks to be about 3 acres when done. He mentioned building a dry-fill dam in the slough above this pond to control silt. I asked what it would take to actually make that a pond also and he said it would basically be the same cost as the dry-fill, so I guess I am now building two ponds! lol.
