Thanks man. I'm hoping he has some fun. This virtual school thing has him going Jack Nicholson insane.
I got out Sunday for a little bass fishing in the afternoon. We had wind gusts of close to 40mph so I hiked into a couple of ponds in the woods that I had noticed on On-X a couple of years ago and have wanted to try ever since. As I had hoped, they were really well protected from the crazy winds and it was enjoyable fishing from the bank. I caught everything on a chatterbait with a plastic trailer. My first two fish were a 4 lb and a 6.5 lb in less than 10 minutes. I suspicioned that these ponds could be good because they are well off the beaten path, and man was I right! Here are a couple of snaps of the 6.5 that was weighed on a digital scale.
Found some tad pole jig bodies going to couple them with some scrounger jigs. Can't wait to get the new boat in the water.
So Easter with the family got canceled due to my 14 year old grandson was exposed at school. So we went to the farm. Was a nice morning to take a 2 mile hike with the wife and the dog. When I got back to the truck I decided to wet a line. Fish is on the menu tonight!
Finally had the boat out yesterday to see how the new prop was going to work. Very pleased with the results. She came out of the hole and jumped up on plane with little effort. Gained about 6 mph on the top end. Can't take a ride without wetting a line. This was the result of a few hours throwing jigs to stumps and blow downs.
We pulled the trigger this year on a seasonal campsite in Door County Wisconsin. I’ve done a handful of trips the last few years learning it up there and Sturgeon Bay and surrounding areas really are world class for smallies so I’m pumped for that. We should be up there 1-2x a month at minimum. Ive had the new boat out 2x so far this spring with my son and plan to spend quite a bit more time out there this year. He’s obsessed with it and just getting to the age where he can fish without constant help from me.
