Wis crazy. wolf season lasted 2 days. Dnr had yearly quota of 118, so when trappers and hound hunters killed 82 in two days they shut the hunt down so they could have a hunt this fall. Chances are that judges will stop the fall hunt. Quota should have been more like 500. Talking with trappers wolfs are easy to trap. Hound hunters have no trouble killing them either. Coyotes will fight with the hounds more than a wolf. My son in law had a tag and got one today. Saw a picture of it and its huge. Hopefully I'll get a picture of it tomorrow. I guess he's out celebrating .lol
Got out on the water this past weekend for some walleye, and it did not disappoint. Slept on the ice for 2.5 days, and caught 7 walleye with two being trophies (28.25 and a 30)
Thanks guys! Been trying to get a big walleye through the ice for quite some years now and finally panned out! Best part is the wife told me to mount it..... just now trying to figure out what she bought that she is hiding from me lol.
Did some scouting and got my cameras out today, the spot I hunted late season is a highway of deer, but is super thick. I’ll have to put some work in to make it huntable. Ran into 7 good gobblers and found no sheds, I’ve never found a shed on this property though. Got a surprise checking pictures, there is a bobcat in my area, this is the first time I’ve seen one local. Might have to take the Larue out and tag a few yotes and cats.
Steve that sounds good. How do you like the Larue? Heard their ar's are some of the best. Still about a foot of snow in the woods here, hard walking one step you stay on top next step you break through. Snows melting fast, deer are looking good here, very easy winter so far.
Snow was about gone here, but got some more last night, Putting out minerals yesterday and found this matching set only like 20 feet apart and next to one of my stands. No history with this buck either. Figured his spread around 18 inches scored around 134.
Have any of you used the replaceable bladed knives? My cousin this last season used it to skin the whitetail we got and it worked pretty good. I believe his was an outdoor edge brand. I just wondered how it would work on quartering an elk and mule deer out west here.
I've used a Havalon for years, Have about 50 or so more blades to pop in when needed. Surgical knives those things are.
$25 Gerber buck knife and havalon is what I take to skin game. The Havalon or even gerber knives like that are awesome. I also bought a wors sharp knife sharpner for damn near everything else, its stupid proof, I sharpen all my knives with it. https://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/work-sharp-knife-and-tool-sharpener#repChildCatid=3683110
I've been awol for a bit...ooops. Best rifle I've shot, I get bolt action grouping with cheap M80 149gr ball ammo, I can touch rounds at 100yards with off the shelf ammo. If you ever get to hold one, let alone shoot one, you'll see why they are so pricey.
