I don't get out a whole lot looking for sheds but yesterday, after our cold snap was over, I went out to feed the birds (squirrels) and to retrieve a camera. Since I was cleaning up the snow piles with my tractor I drove my tractor over to the camera and hopped off and removed it from the tree. After putting the tractor away the dogs and I were walking back to the house, I decided to walk in the tractor tracks because they made a nice path. As I was walking past where the camera was my dog Jones was staring at me and then he picked up a shed that was at his feet. I'll be! I walked within 5 feet of it and never saw it. To make matters even worse, the matching side was even closer to the tree where the camera was attached! I guess they caught me totally off guard as I wasn't thinking about sheds.

So today I went out to look in my bean field and on the way there, found 2 more. My dogs beat me to them. They were actually in my clover/brassica plot which is adjacent to my beans. I hastily searched the beans but I wasn't dressed well enough to do a decent job. So I'll search it again.

I found 4 in about 15 minutes of looking. That hardly ever happens to me.

The male is a Black Mouth Cur and the other, a female is a Pitbull mix. She hunts nothing and is more of an opportunist. He will hunt anything. She usually cashes in on his finds however, she is one proud peacock when she does make a find of her own. Usually a mouse.

Nice! I always wanted to have a place that I could find sheds on my own property. Looks like no matches, so hopefully the other sides are out there under the snow.

They actually all have brow tines. Just a bad camera angle. On the matched set squirrels have chewed them quite a bit.

This is what I always wanted also. These sheds that I just picked up were in my "yard". I haven't been in the woods yet.
