I’d like to hear how you guys have cleared up your complete sight picture. I have a verifier peep that I have started using but I’d like to hear from others who have aging eyes and your theory on improved vision. Do you use a verifier with a lens? I would like to make my target a little clearer. My eye dr has my prescription the best he can get it. So what has worked for you?
You can only focus on either the pin or target at any one instance. So with my old man eyes I forego the clarifier. My distance vision isn't an issue. Shooting with my progressive lenses (very slight distance correction) has been a pita. So I shoot and hunt w/o glasses. A single pin sight and slightly larger peep (no dovetail), but careful peep to housing alignment has worked pretty well. Some challenge out west with elk trying to guesstimate the distance and set the slider in advance, to avoid a lot of movement has probably been the most difficult spot over a multipin set up. Seems to be less an issue for deer in a stand or target.
Have you messed with the scope lenses? This snap from Podiums website talks about lens power recommendation to the clarifier. Do you use both at the same time? It would take a lot of money to buy lenses, verifier kit, and clarifier kit so that you could find the best setup.
Ben that sight looks worth it to try out. Hard to think it would replace a pin sight but I’m game for proving it to myself. Thanks for the tip.
Ive really been thinking about getting one and trying it out, ive watched several youtube videos on it and have just about convinced myself.
My brother uses the ezvsight. I was a little skeptical and not sure about it. he got it sighted in and we shot a lot of 3d stuff last year. he loves it and I got to say that he is a lot more accurate with it then with his 4 pin
I'm pretty intrigued about an EZV as well. Would be fabulous for archery elk with the way it helps estimate yardage.
I agree with you but in a hunting situation I really don’t want to have to adjust the pin during a shot. That’s just me I know a lot of people do.
Just me I have a 1 pin slider set at 30 yards and never move the pin, practice till you are comfortable.
Vertical pin(s). Trophy Ridge for one makes sights with multiple vertical stacked pins if a single pin/ slider isn't your cup of tea. I am dumping my peep this year though. Going to go back to a kisser. Haven't used one of those in 20 some years.
So far I have switched from a hooded 1/8 peep to a non-hooded 1/4 peep with a verifier lens. This has helped a bunch. Plus the sight I just bought extends out from the riser a little farther.
I used a verifier for years, but then my distance vision started fading as well. So then I started shooting with my glasses on, with progressive lenses and figured out how to make it work. I like that a whole lot more. Now I can see both the pins and the target very well. I make sure I get lenses with the largest possible area of prescription and also thin frames; with that combo, it works very well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This doesn't work for everyone, but I wear contacts, one in the left eye for reading and in the right eye for distance. Then no longer a need for the clarifier!
I have a verifier and I wear contacts. My distance vision is blurry so the contacts take care of that and verifier clears up the site pin. All with in the last year. Sucks to start to get old.
Here is an example of something that is helping. Take your phone and hold it about 10” from your eyes. Now move it away just a few inches and see the difference in the words on your phone. A sight with a longer extension bar seems obvious to start clearing up the whole picture. I have always had just your basic hunters style sight that has no bar. Now with the new sight pushed out my picture has improved x2.
