I’m all set up in a different spot for the afternoon. This was a a spot we call “The Car Body” because of an old rusty car that’s in the woods.

I’ve killed a few deer here over the years. @cantexian might remember it. This is where I hunted last year when he stopped by.

I’ll revisit the green field when it hasn’t been raining for 18 hours.

Live from the dinner table: roast and potatoes. Roast courtesy of my son’s first deer killed on Dec 17.:biggun:

I didn’t see a deer from the stand.
It started to drizzle about 50 minutes before dark. It got steadily heavier until it was a light rain but I wanted to stick it out.

I finally gave up about 10 minutes before dark, got down, walked 30 yards to the road and there were three deer 59 yards away walking towards me.

    Oh well.

Hoping to get out Saturday morning. Contemplated tomorrow but opted not to, a due north wind is slightly better than a NW wind and it won't be as gusty Saturday.

I fully intend to put one down my next sit, get it over and done with and try to get myself back into it come October/November. My next hunt will be my 4th sit, that is pathetic for me given years past.

Gonna spent next 3 days at the cabin hunting coyotes.
A buddy stopped by for a beer or (3) about 15 minutes before dark.
Just bullshittn a`d I looked out the back window and seen a deer.
Was a young 10 18" buck. He came to about 18 yards and stared at us through the window for about 4_5 minutes.
He finally trotted of when I opened the window and said " 2 more years buddy"
My buddy thought that was an awesome experience, and it was:cool:

He is in Arkansas, about 45 minutes from me. I met @LittleChief in person for the first time last year at the public piece he is hunting. He is a good of a guy in person as he is on the forum. Arkansas archery season runs to the end of February.

I skipped the morning hunt and now I’m in a brand new location I found while scouting this morning.

I can see two fresh scrapes and about a dozen rubs from where I’m sitting.

We will see if any of the movement is during daylight.

Well I got my gear back out for one last shot at a doe. I finished work at noon and figured why not. I have my dads crossbow and sitting on the ground tucked into a briar bush at a field edge. We shall see. One last HOORAA!!

Well it’s over. Ended up seeing 4 but they came out about 100 yards away by a trailer in a fence row that is overgrown that I have sat in before. Just picked the wrong spot. Oh well HERES TO NEXT YEAR

I saw seven does/fawns. One group of five fed by out of range and then two fed in right at dark and I got pinned in my tree for a extra 20 minutes.

Bourbon for me brother, I need to slow down. I couldn't hit a squirrel at my bird feeder right now.
