Last night, it was with a rifle with an hour to go before the gun season ended, but I let the .270 bark and I am not eating tag soup this year. I had my middle son with me. I will try to get a few more bow hunts in after Christmas. Dropped in her tracks and I found the bullet in the offside shoulder.
I can't shoot another Buck in NJ until January 1, so its all the kids these three days. But ya better believe I'm going to be in a stand here on 1-1-21 unless there is a major storm.
Kids are in a tree. They had some early Christmas presents today. Rangefinders and their own safety harnesses. Just need some deer. I'm in an observation post on the ground, watching a hillside above me. Lots of tracks, may have to put a stand here.
Feels good to be back in a tree! This spot has been pretty hot with activity, so here I sit. They've been through anytime from now to dark fairly consistent and I honestly feel like this warm spell may keep them moving later. Guess I'll find out. Good luck erbody. Been quiet so far, but the blue Jay's are fussing down the hill close to a nearby water hole that is on the adjacent property. Hopefully they're fussing at a thirsty buck that is headed this way. Sent from my SM-G960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Think i may get to get out tomorrow pm. I need to find out how to hunt that plot i was on last night. Lack of trees with cover. I might push over to where i saw them entering the winter wheat. If it plays out like last night that would be a last minute shot
James had a 5pt and 3 Does at 60, Grace had 3 Does at 100. Caleb had none and of course I had 10 Does within 40 including these at 6-7yds, but I didn't have a bow and was just observing. I know where we will all be going to ground hunt tomorrow.
Nothing came by me tonight. Pulled a card from the camera looking directly at the shooting lane and had tons of bucks on it over the past couple weeks. 2 bucks were sparring there last night right at last light. Looked pretty intense actually. Sent from my SM-G960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Haven't checked in in a few days, a bit late on this post. Is the neighbor an anti or no hunter? Just wondering if there is maybe some way you could set something up to let him/her know you are hunting and they could walk the other way?
