I’m going out for my first rifle sit of the year today decided to bring the 308. Instead of the bow today. I haven’t hunted since Thanksgiving Day so I like my chances. First descent doe I see gets it.

I sounded like a bull in a China shop because the electric company decided to cut trees 50 yards from my stand. So I was walked right into big cut down tree limb.

I'm part of the AM shift for the first time in several weeks. Going to hunt our home place this morning. We'll see if they are cruising this morning.
I'll check back in once it's light enough.
    Good Luck, everyone!!

Good luck to everyone out this morning. Do you all think that generally late season is like early season where they say afternoons are more productive than mornings?

20s here this morning. Selfishly, I'm hoping for morning movement. So far just crows and woodpeckers.

This morning, I brought coffee with me into the woods... I feel like such a Karen. 20201219_072300.jpeg

The woods is so open and quiet this time of the year and very hard to tell what your bumping in the dark. I prefer afternoon for the most part. The only bucks I have ever shot in January, all have been in morning. The trick is to find the bedding area and setup in it and wait for the deer to return from there feed source. It's the opposite for evening, setup in feeding area or in between that and bedding. But I will hunt any chance I get, all season long.

That seems to be the case in my woods after the gun hunts are over. I hunt evenings only late season, as they only feel safe enough to move towards dark.
