Actually in a tree today. Been over 2 years since I’ve been 20 feet high... feels good... definitely a lot easier since losing a bunch of weight and being not completely out of shape...still sucks lugging this big ass summit climbed in, but man is it comfy... planning to sit all day just because I don’t want to climb up ans down and lug this thing around more than I have to.. only thing I’m worried about is deer drives are allowed on public ground today... left a note on my truck window with my location, hopefully someone is smart enough to read it and understand where I am...
Didn’t see anything yesterday probably won’t get back out until Saturday good luck to everyone Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Back to work today. Both games were wins yesterday. Hopefully back in the stand this weekend!! Good Luck, Wesley. Don't let them drives getcha. Hopefully they'll push something to ya.
I'm the same, every brine I've tried is too strong/salty if you follow their quantities. I cut the seasoning back by 1/4 pound of meat, but still add the correct amount of the pink cure salt. I find that the seasoning mix is what is so salty, the cure is just so it keeps a lot longer by keeping bacteria from starting. I normally do 2lbs at a time, but only add enough seasoning for 1-3/4 lbs.
POV A deer you shot is dead. And just 45 yards over the neighbors stone wall. Do you drag it across or ask permission? Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Doe down... almost too easy with the rifle... she made it about 15 yards and dropped right in front of my stand... Correction-button buck...
If I don't already have an agreement with them then I would call every time. I don't like to burn bridges with neighboring property owners. Also, in Idaho the trespassing rules state that it is a minimum one year loss of your hunting privileges if caught trespassing. I'm not risking that for nothing. Now, if I called them and they told me no...well, I have a strong "don't let meat go to waste" gene. There would be a super late dark-thirty visit to that deer. *Edit* Who am I kidding. 45 yards? That deer is back on my side in one minute.
It’s not my deer FYI, it’s a buddy’s deer I was helping track. It’s His decision to make. Just curious on where you all stand on something like this. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
No luck this morning, I did a drive to my dad and he was in the wrong spot, 5 took off and would have been an easy shot if he was in the right spot! still a blast though
Still grinding. Was snowing at the house but the 40 mile trip west had 0 snow. It's about 35 degrees and dropping. Hoping they come on this ridge and rake it over good to see if there are any leftover white oaks. Bucks only.
Not quitting until the last day of the season. My confidence isn't that high but I cant kill a buck being lazy and not trying.
Looks like I should be able to get out Friday evening and possibly Thursday evening. I want to try something different, plus gain Intel for future hunting. My plan is to go to a piece if public land that I've never set foot on. I got a couple places within 30 minutes of me that I have never been to. So want to scout my way in and just setup on what I see. Possibly might be another guy going also. So hopefully between 2 of us, we can get on the deer. Most likely will be a scouting mission.
