Well guys I am sorry to report Kansas was a bust. I saw over 16 bucks. The four target bucks were in full rut running does and I mean running. I couldn’t get them to stop in bow range. I tried everything. I drew 3-4 times each but I will not risk a shot on a running buck. The other 12 were just to young. As far a does based on what I saw the ratio is a bit off but gun season will fix that. I will try to head back. I still have a full season in Louisiana and Mississippi with the rut around Christmas.
Well this evening was my last sit before the orange army moves in...only deer I saw was the one I bumped out. Oh well. My Pops is coming up for rifle season along with a friend that Im re-introducing to deer hunting now that he is retired. I think they are both pretty excited and honestly so am I! Hey guys! Sorry I've been busy in the woods. I finally saw my big guy last Friday. Came within 50 yards and I couldn't get a shot. Rifle season started here in Missouri so I'll be out tomorrow thru Sunday with the rifle. My bro connected on a buck Monday I had an encounter with last Weds. He was chasing a doe and wouldn't come in to me. I've been seeing alot and have had some misfortune but that's bowhunting. Here's my bros buck. He was always with the big guy. I had a bunch of AR15 lowers, finally just built a Ar15 in 350 legend, got it scoped and going to sight in this weekend. I’m take it to Ohio if I don’t tag a buck before gun season, I’ll be back out Monday with a bow. Trying to get some jobs finished this weekend.

What bullet your shooting out of the 350? I bought a couple different rounds to try. Ammo is tough to get now. So I grabbed up a handful of some different ones to try.
I shoot the Winchester Deer Season XP 150’s. Super hard to find. They will flat out shoot too. Got some 180’s as well but they are significantly lower. They group just as good. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I got them in 145gr and got fmjs to get me close then I’ll fine tune, I also got 2 box’s of the 180’s but thought of those more for pig when I go south
Been out hunting with the rifle the past few weeks. No luck finding a big buck. Thursday afternoon finally got on my son-in-law's cattle lease. There are maybe 200 acres of 1000 +/- acres that he actually runs cows on. I was blown away! I will definitely be buying an Oklahoma archery tag next season. Tons of big buck sign. Hills and big hollows, big white oak ridge tops with acorns nearly as big around as quarters everywhere! I'll be hunting it again tomorrow with my 8 year old granddaughter and my son, as well as next weekend. Looking forward to late season scouting and shed hunting. Had my Dad up for rifle season. He had opportunity to take a doe but was a swing and a miss. My "sherpa" duties were fulfilled however. I on the other hand once I sat out on my own kept seeing a few does who still havent kicked this years kids away yet- i just cant shoot one of the does still with the kids. Anyways, i took a buck on the last day. Went back to my bow stand with the crossbow. My #2 on the hit list came out after a lone doe. Laid the smack down at about 12 yards.
