My buddy I helped get back into bowhunting after being out of it for 10 yrs got one tonight! He texted me at like 330 saying he was wiped out. 20 min later he calls me so happy. He went to the 1st place I showed him and followed the sign. Young kid who has been starting a family. So happy for him.
That red marker was last blood I found. I only bumped this buck because I started grid searching. That’s how many times he’s bedded since the first bump at like 2 today. Not a drop of blood in any of his beds either. He’s where the top brown marker is. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums

Not a problem. It will be worth it when you recover him. One thing is for sure, you will not ever forget this deer. Lol
Not as eventful as this morning but saw 3 doe and 2 button bucks. Going back in where I had he encounter this morning with the big 10. Suppose to be the coldest day yet this year. Hunting from stand instead up ground this time around. Hopefully a good one walks right under me like 3 of the 5 did tonight Mathews HTR, Sword 5 pin, Truball release, Goldtip XT hunter 300, QAD 125 gr Swept, QAD rest
I'm a bit late to the party, but there is one quote I have always remembered from my years on the forums here, I'll be damned if I cannot remember who it was, but it was pretty simple and to the point. That deer doesn't want to die, no different than you or I. He's bedding because he is critically injured, he cannot seek medical treatment so the only option is to bed down and lick his wounds, literally and figuratively. A single lung hit deer can go a mile or further, he's not wanting to go that far but was getting bumped, which is why a lot of them end up going that far to begin with. Be it from hunter or predator. IMO, if you find him still alive in the morning, somehow, you have two options. Push him until he dies or you can no longer push him, or find someone to get up ahead of him and push him back to you for a follow up shot. I also feel that the reason he is bedding so frequently, even with you nearby, is that broadhead is still in him doing uncomfortable things. You never mentioned, was he quartering to, away or broadside? Deer are rarely perfectly broadside, usually find that on recovery and seen the entrance/exits. In this instance I would think you would hope for a slight quartering to rather than away as the broadhead would cause more vital damage rather than muscle. Hopefully you find him dead in the last place you seen him bed, or nearby. Not sure how much further you can track in the direction you're headed, so you may want to consider options of how to circle ahead of him and push him back where you can keep bumping him if he is still alive in the morning. I'd have probably been the devil's advocate had I followed along live and pushed for you to keep pushing him. Bedding that quickly he has got to be hurting and not wanting to keep moving for a reason. Yet, there's still that possibility he survives like many stories you hear of. Single lung is not always fatal, how they survive is beyond me, especially with the lack of medical assistance. Just one of natures miracles I guess. Good luck in the morning, hopefully you find him.
