If he has gone that far, give it at least four hours before beginning the track again. The last thing you want to do with one-lung hit is bump him out of his bed. Don't ask me how I know.

Been drawn on 2 mature bucks in two days and both bounded off before I could let it fly. Grrrr worst luck this season. Trying to stay in the fight but I about threw my bow after this morning

Any indication that he bedded or stood still? Or has it been the same type blood trail the entire time?

No beds just kicked up leaves with spots of blood following it. I got permission to track on their land but I literally don’t even know where to start. Crazy to me how he’s not dead it looked good and felt good after the shot.

I agree with the others, give him a MINIMUM of 4 hours. Then track like you can see him and are stalking in for a shot. Very slow, arrow nocked. That distance (250 yards) pretty much guarantees it's only one lung, I've never had anything hit in both lungs go farther than a 100 yards. A second arrow may be needed so track very carefully to hopefully get that opportunity. Best of luck!

Got the combine going 200 yards behind me, not thinking I’ll have much action the rest of the morning but hopefully they come by me on their way to feed in the cut corn tonight

Back at last blood. Did you mark the trail? Did he take a relatively straight line between where you hit him and last blood?

I use tp when i have a track like this. It gives me an idea of how the deer is traveling and i use that to try and find more blood before doing a search pattern in the thick stuff

Been so busy juggling hunting with stuff going on at the house I failed with my bow maintenance. So embarassed at my bow. D loop all stretched out. Release so sensitive its let some arrows go on my let down. Been working on it all morning. So focused on scouting, hunting, and family I let this go even though I innately knew my shooting didnt go to hell bc of my form. Even 3 weeks ago I was hunting and on a let down practice draw I let an arrow fly and hit a tree about 15 feet up. I thought I accidentally tripped my release. I was like wth. Never happened before. Small stuff happening with my shooting that I should have known to slow down and regather myself. I just kept pounding ahead. Another part of the success equation.

    Good luck killer!

It was a straight line for about 175 yards then he took a hard right in a big thicket and I lost blood. Sometimes the blood was a lot and sometimes specks. Never found my arrow so I’m assuming it’s still in him which makes me wonder if I got enough penetration

You have to back out and give him some time. Go back to last blood in a few hours and try to continue the track. Looks for kicked up leaves if you can't find blood.

You should have got enough penetration as there was bubbles in the blood indicating at least one lung was likely hit.

Hopefully the broad head is still doing damage as the buck moves. Shaft is probably keeping a lot of blood in, but I bet he is hurt bad enough to bed sooner and die there.

Slipped out this morning for a little bit b4 work. Ended up seeing better movement than last weekend. No shooters though. Nice 3 1/2 yr old with his right side all broke up.

    Good Luck, Skylar.

If you are confident that you have lung blood, and the arrow is still in him, he will bed a die, given enough time. With the arrow in him, the blood trail will get worse if he is bumped. Go in arrow nocked, move stupid slow, and glass ahead of you.

I think the buck I saw last night was probably one of the bucks I got cam pics of. It was either a basket 8 or basket 6pt. Nothing I would have shot.

In for the evening... tree stand rodeo. It’s windy and I’m in a ridge top.

Uh today’s a s*** show... after seeing does work by another guys stand in the morning snd having the property owner tell me to sit this stand I decided I’m gonna do it, super windy and the wind is blowing the right direction to sneak in, I take a couple steps into the woods and up pops a buck and doe... I drop down get an arrow nocked snd start grunting, eventually I see three of them bound away... debated sitting this stand of going back to my stand... as I’m climbing this stand another doe gets up and bounds off... idk if it’s worth it but I’m still in this stand, figure if the does are bedding in here maybe I’ll catch a buck cruising through
