Sounds like my encounter with an 8 point in MO last week. He cruised by at 50, when he hit the thicket, I grunted and he turned around. He came into 35 but stayed in thick stuff where I could only see his head. After he left, I thought the same thing about a decoy would have sealed the deal for me.
10 does this morning, all pretty far out of shooting distance haven’t seen any activity here much after 9-10 am so we’ll see what happens
Went out back of my house and hunted on the ground after 3 deer went across my field. Passed on a 4 pt then 10 yards behind me a big 10 pt came right behind me. I drew back on him and stood up to see his vitals and he bounded off. Mathews HTR, Sword 5 pin, Truball release, Goldtip XT hunter 300, QAD 125 gr Swept, QAD rest
This sucks.. had a nice buck tailing a doe at 100, they angle towards me then disappeared into the thick stuff, 20 minutes later the neighbor comes driving through on his property in his gator snd the buck and doe take off out of the fence line about 50 yards from me and head the wrong way
Looks like you got at least one lung. If you got binos, use them. Get down on your knees if there is brush. He will be heading to thick stuff to bed....if he makes it
Not looking good lost blood in thick stuff I probably trailed 250 yards. Backed out gonna drive and ask the neighbors if I can look on their land that’s where last blood was headed Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
