Hindsight is always 20/20, as said before elsewhere, I hope that phrase is not coined from a time traveler and it is a vision reference rather than time

From the sounds of it you didn't spook either buck from this morning. No better chance than the first chance, but never know what can happen with a 2nd chance.

You know your woods and how to make moves, you'll get it done.

He was just a cruising rut buck, definitely doesn't live in that woods I was hunting. I just hunted there because I had a good encounter there last year at the same time frame. The other buck definitely saw me and I know he won't come anywhere close to that location now. But there is still plenty of woods to move around in there. I had a another good encounter about 200 yards from there last year also, so I want to try and hit that spot this coming week. It's getting tougher for me, but not giving up til the end for me. Hey never know I may still stumble into that buck I hit on the 30th.

Pretty slow for me today. I saw 3 does first light and that was it so far.

Hunted most of the day yesterday and saw 1 spike buck. That was it. That was the least movement I have seen in all of my sits this year. All of the bucks must be bedded up with does somewhere.

I sat this morning and had 2 spikes and a doe fawn come by between 9:30 and 10:30. The spikes were acting normal, like there wasn't even a rut going on. I haven't seen a mature doe in over a month. Very strange season.

@SparrowHawk just checking up with you about your buck getting entered. Any ETA on submission?

How long will a buck stay with a doe before he starts looking for another? I think all my bigger bucks are with does right now. I haven't had any on camera now for about a week. Just a couple small spike bucks.

I will tonight, I got 123, thought he was bigger.. short tined.

Edit, I used a realtree calculator when I added up score before , but just wrote it down and used calculator and got 128 2/8 which seems more correct. It was calculating net score, not gross.

Usually 2 - 3 days. Also multiple bucks will try and breed the same doe before and after she goes into estrus.

Sorry I haven't been on here in a while guys. Hunting in Ohio Friday thru Mondays and then back to work for Tuesday thru Thursday. This is like the third week straight with that schedule and headed back this Friday. The only buck I have had an opportunity on was this one we call high and tight. I think he's only 7 -8" wide. I want to see him get another year older. IMG_1701.jpg IMG_1700.jpg IMG_1699.jpg

Half way thru cls, almost a 300 pt lead

We both know once the season ends that there isn't to many 2 nd season deer killed. Not saying there won't be but it's tougher to do so.

Just looked at the scorecard thread, I am curious, why are some teams so much larger? I could understand a difference of one or two members, but some teams have three times as many people. Is there different categories?

The score card thread only list team mates that have shot a deer and entered it. Your name will be on there 2 times if you shot a buck and a bonus deer. For example we as a team only have 5 deer entered, so it only shows that.

I make no excuses, but I do offer explanations at times.

    Eff 2020.

We had 3 members just up and disappear and truthfully it ruins the entire contest when that happens. One hasn't even logged in since back in September, Shane hasn't even had the common courtesy to at least say he bowed out. Multiple reach outs to him with no response, and he has been on plenty of times since, made me lose all respect for him. I think next year I will be content with just participating in the LFTS thread. At least there, win or lose, everyone stays in contact and supportive of each other. Seems anymore with the contest you spend as much time trying to account for people as you do hunting. There's probably a reason it has continued to shrink over the past 5 years.

It's not over until the fat lady sings. I'll still try to put 50 more on the board and we have a few die-hard's who can still get it done in the late season, I can't and won't concede until that sun has set on the final evening.

So I pulled a card today. On Sunday, i saw one spike from my stand all day. This card was by my other stand towards front of the property and had 2 shooters there same day. One at 9:30 am and 5pm. Go figure. Be out tomorrow evening and hopefully get a Saturday or Sunday sit in.
