Well this season has been one to remember for sure. I am a very sad 54 yo man, I stayed off my phone except to tell my wife I was strapped in a tree this morning. At 8 am had the urge to piss. As I am pissing , I see movement to my left. 60-70 yards. I finish , I get bino's up looking for the deer. Behind some trees. Put bino's down wait for it to move again. A buck starts towards me. All I see is white rack. Grab my bow, get ready. First opening. I glanced at it it's 30 yards. He comes into it and stops. Let it fly , Thwarp. The buck bounced away stops and looks back where he was. I'm like wth. I get another arrow. He behind some trees. Do I draw again. He button hooks and stops again. I let it fly again. Thwarp again. He trotts off s little ways I get a 3rd arrow nocked. He slowly walks straight away. I called to him. He kept going I watched him go and disappear. I get down go get to my 2 arrows. Nothing but dirt. I stepped it off to my tree. 37 steps. I was using my 30 yard pin. I wanna cry. Get back in stand. Dejected and sitting to clean my broadheads. When I stand up and I am horrified to see him standing there looking into my eyes. He has me pegged. He walked straight away again!!!!!!!! 2020 SUCKS
Nothing moving. What is crazy is it was opening day for general firearms this past Saturday. Great weather. Hundreds of hunters on this base. 2 deer killed. That shows you they arent moving for some reason. This afternoon I have to figure it out.
Nov 16 and you got a chance. Two. You are doing something right. This bowhunting game is tough. Terribly tough at times. Wish I could say more, but dont give up Mud.
That's tough but stay after it man. If he was moving, there will be others moving as well. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
As we all know, your whole season can change in an instant! Stay after it! Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
Damn....Damn. Try and shake it off, get your head back in the game. 2020 sucks, but it can be made great in a matter of seconds.
"My father said when I was younger, hard times make better men" A quote from a song. Holds true here my friend. Hang in there!!
Yeah that sucks. Like Joe said, shake it off, maybe even laugh at the situation. Consider if you want to move the stand at eod. But, they're up, moving, you may have more opportunities today.
OH!!! That almost made me cry. I know how you feel, and it SUCKS! Hang in there Mud! He could easily show right back up. That special place on a doe will make him forget all about you in a matter of seconds.
That is rough, but at least you had a shot opportunity. I have had 8 deer in bow range so far this season without getting a shot off. The two times I have drawn, I had to let down because the deer wandered off without coming through the shooting lane. It will get better, 2020 is affecting the deer too.
I feel your pain. Saturday I had the first shot opportunity with my bow since 2017. Rushed the shot and shot right over his back. Not a huge buck but one I was going to take. All we can do is keep at it
Did a poor job keeping up with this forum this year. Just an update: 11/15 - I was able to take nice buck off my East Texas lease. This is the first buck I’ve taken WITH A BOW off my lease in the 6 years I’ve been apart of it. I’ve got a couple other bucks from OK previously with a bow. Unfortunately, due to a bad shot on my part and the Warmer temps I found my deer 14.5 hours later and about 510 yards away with the help of a dog. I was not able to salvage the meat, and he broke some points off at some point after velvet season but at least I broke my streak on my lease. In the 6 years I’ve always seen them while bow hunting but just never had a shot at a nice buck. Never even had the chance to draw back on one. Moral of the story, stick with it.
Way to go Clint, ax, cole, kj, and LC!!!! Johnny, leave some for the rest of us!!! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
