Good looking buck Dan. The pressure is on now! wife is off 3 days this weekend and is never off so we may head down saturday morning and stay the weekend in the cabin. Mt 3 year old will be down as well unless her mom will watch him for the weekend. So hopefully she and I can get out and do some all day sits.
Wife wanted to hunt, as this is her only weekend off until December (nurse) we didn't leave until yesterday morning to come to the cabin. She did an all day sit yesterday only saw a huge turkey. Nothing else. I sat for a few hours below the cabin in the afternoon while my 3 year old napped. This morning. The wind was good for our best spot. The blind Jim shot his buck out of, the same I fed the spike peanut m and ms from. Has scrapes and rubs all over ect. Soni sneak in took almost 45 minutes. Get there. No blind, and no cell phone camera. Stolen. It went off line a few days ago, we assumed dead battery. GPS is enabled so when they turn it on it will pop up. Had a few good sits, saw 3 doe this morning. In a blind near the pond. Its hot!! And hopefully the long brow tines buck will pop in for a snack. Nice Tom. She said she didn't know where to shoot it. Now she knows.
I checked the cam at the millionaire property today. First time since I killed my buck. 2 up-and-comers and a freaking linebacker...
It has been tough hunting the past 4 days. Real warm weather and nothing moving. Tonight a cold front came in and seen 16 different deer. 6 bucks. 1 real shooter that got hung up at 40 yards and covered by a tree. Tomorrow is a high of 35 so an all day sit will be done. Shot that giant turkey from the photo above with a g5 montac fixed blade got out of the blind to run up and grab him as he was flopping around he got up and ran off. Travked good heave blood for about 100 yards then nothing. Wife and I started grid searching she found him about 50-60yards by the gravel drive. I run up there shes like 5 feet from the bird still alive! I get ready to draw and it takes off. I run parallel to the drive about 30 yards and it stops i nailed it again this time with a g5 dead meat expandable ran 10-20feet and I lost sight of it. Wife said it took off flying. On x tracker said I walked 3 miles searching for it. Never found it. Or the 2 arrows that were still still stuck in it. What a **** show. I ran out to grab it hoping to still get a shot at a buck. Saw 3 doe and found 15 scrapes within 100 yards of the pond lol. 1st time I have ever shot an animal and didn't recover it.
Good stuff thanks for the update. I love hunting over a buck decoy. Good luck out there! Tough break on that turkey Robbie. I have heard similar stories about turkeys in the past. I've never had the chance to shot one with archery equipment. Heck I have a hard enough time killing them with a shotgun. Your place looks nice. I wish I had a place down in southern ohio, but if I did I would be wishing I had time to get down there. Good luck
