    Where are you at andrew?
I'm in nw mn and it was 64* today:confused:
Last week a couple days, I don't think we even made it to30*

Despite it being warm, I had an ok sit tonight.
Seen 3 bucks biggest one was only about 18 yards away and had a doe pinned down in a logjam. I know he was (decent) but thats all. Real thick spot.
Had 9 does n fawn come by single file. Then about 10 minutes later came the single doe.
I could just tell the way she was walking she was being followed. Behind her came a nice sized 3x3.the doe turned around and went right behind/downwind and kinda crawled into a nasty blowdown/logjam. In came the bigger one and the 3x3 looked dejected:sad:.
Did not see a deer the last hour of light.
Nice to sit with no gloves.

Its guys like you n swampy that make me realize how lucky I am.
Heck, if I don't see or have one within range, I start second guessing myself.

    What a beautiful evening here.
Got the woodstove cranked, windows opened, cold beer and a pizza about ready to go on the grill.:usa:

I sure hope when shots start ringing out in the a.m. around me, I don't catapult out of a stand.

I let a buddy hunt here last year and he said when the neighbors to the north started in, 20+ deer came running past him.
Sure is awesome that the guy across the river from me allows no hunting. He has about 3 miles of riverbootom.
Its a real small, shallow river so no real barrier too the deer.
    They cross at will.
Sposed to be some good wind switches the next few days so I should be able to pick n choose which stand too hunt. A good thing!

    Check in in the mornings.
    Night fellas:biggrin:

I sat about 8 hrs. He was maybe a 110 inch 3 year old. I would have arrowed him. It was dead calm with no wind...quiet as a mouse. He caught me drawing my bow. Only deer I saw all day. Rough

8 fricken hours in a stand? I start talking to myself at about 3 hours. ( my max)
    I could not do that..

I know that an all day sit this time of year is beneficial ( trail cams show it) but I just get a case of wanderlust. Have too snoop n see what the surrounding hunters are doing.
Very slow opener here. Quietest I've seen in 40 years.
A 78 year old buddy of mine was hunting on my north fence line tonight. He just called and had an incredible sit.
Sounds like he seen about 30 deer and he's in thick cover.
Still hunts with a longbow. Love the guy. Hes awesome!

Nope, can’t shoot another buck unless it’s gun season. Hoping to get a doe, but I’ve only seen a few of those this year and nothing within range.

Just posted the score for my deer in the scorecard thread. He ended up going 113 6/8, right where I figured he’d be, 110-115 range.

Its terrible. Today was 75 and the deer movement was awful. That being said....all it takes it one hot doe to run by!

    This is nuts.
It 60* here now. Don't even need the woodstove going.
Windycas heck also. Highs in the 70's and gusts to 40.
But VS is right. One hot does
    Is all it takes.

Looks like VA may get a slight cool down later this week. And when I am talking cool down it goes from 75 to the low 60s....

    Awesome morning.
Wind direction and speed made me rethink my original spot.
Have not sat in that stand for 3 years. Its a super nasty thicket right on top of the riverbank. Only shot option is about 8 yards and a very narrow window of opportunity.
Glad I sat there. 2, 3year old 8's came by grunting. 2, 1 year olds did the same. They were round n round chasing does. Was fun to watch.
