Close again, but not close enough. 2 bucks and a 2 doe came to acorn tree, too much crap to get a shot. Bucks sparred for 15min and then the light was gone. One hung out for 20min so I threw my Gatorade bottle at him, no reaction other than go sniff and work the scrape.
The wind kind of screwed me, I knew I needed to get near the pond but there was no way I would have gotten in clean without getting busted.
Tomorrow is fear wash day and pack for Illinois. See you fellas Thursday.

These days of like Nov 1 to 5 have always been slow for me. I have no idea why but it has to have something to do with my hunting style/location of where I hunt.

This is the time many people start to have self doubt and exhaustion creep in, causing them to hunt less and when they do have less confidence. Resist. Im tired. Im not seeing deer. I missed a deer. I hit a deer and they got away. And on and on and on. That is your brain trying to find the easy way out. Get some rest/good food/and workout a bit. I did that today and I feel a lot better....body system recharged. A tired mind can lead to quitting and hunting crappy stand locations just when the best days of Nov 6th to 15th or so are upon us. Heck no....not going down without a fight.

    KILL!

I'm ready to get back after a buck! But work is killing me. I'm trying to get to a point I can cut out maybe on friday afternoon. Then I have the whole weekend. Hopefully get a couple days to hunt the week after. Damn this work thing!

Sat in one of my best stands tonight. Never seen a deer.
    Crazy insane.
Sure was awesome sitting without gloves though.

The time change doesn’t leave much time for hunting after work anymore but my dad and I have a couple spots on our lease that we can sneak into pretty clean. We sat together in one of our blinds and saw a doe, a fawn, and 2 spikes. The 2 spikes had a sparring match for about 5 minutes. It was a pretty enjoyable 90 minute hunt and we got to share it together which makes it even better.

It's almost like you wrote this for me...
I'm wiped out and not seeing anything. I've bounced around to new areas that should have been hot spots to look at them but have very little sign.

Seen 1 buck since Oct 30 (not legal and not in range anyway) and just a few sporadic does with fawns. Zero chasing. I saw chasing Oct 1, but not November 1. I found what should've been a honey hole in an area I've walked past hundreds of times that was wrecked with scrapes and rubs that had been made the night before- no bucks in 4 sits and the scrapes have not been refreshed.

Made the mistake of telling the wife I'm cutting this week short so I can't back out of that but I can still make it to WI starting Veterans Day.

Seasons not over but my rutcation is a bust.

Oh, one sorta good thing- neighbor on the quad made a reappearance tonight with 15 minutes to dark. But not only did he run up on his quad, he parked it and walked in on the main trail. I about lost my mind. Get down from the tree real quick and pack up my stand and walk to the trail to wait for him to give him a piece of my mind.

He walks up, we start talking long story short he went in to help an older guy who was back there who took a shot at a doe and couldn't find blood. The conversation goes so well he ends up giving us permission to access the public from his trail which will cut about 10 minutes of hard hiking through scrubby brush, and also says if we drop one back there just let him know and he'll unlock the gate and let us drive back to the public line.

So while my faith in deer is at an all time low, my faith in humanity is up a notch...a tich, anyway.

Good sit , had a small spike chase a doe by the stand at 10 yards. Only thing was the doe was a bit bigger than the spike. She was zigging and zagging. I was hoping a big boy would come by but it was 20 minutes til quitting time. Had to get down. I know something else was going to come by if only I had more time.

I'll be back out in the AM

All set up in PA on an absolute highway of a deer trail, scouted this on Sunday found lots of fresh deer crap, scrapes, and rubs, it’s 35 out now getting up to 60s today, not happy about that part... but it’s November 4th so I’ll probably be here all day! Was louder than I wanted to be getting in, extremely crunchy out here so I should be able to hear them from a mile away!!! Good luck out there guys!!!
