Update on my season: I will be in Colorado for 3rd Rifle Elk season next week, been planning this trip for 2 years. I hope to be back in the whitetail woods late November and early December. Good luck to everyone, hang in there and stay positive.
Saw two bucks today. 18 yards. 2.5 yr old 9 ptr and a 3.5 yr old 12 ptr. Young so they got a pass. Missed a doe 19 yds, miserable fail. Back at it on Tuesday. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
It is close here in IL. They are responding to rattling and grunts. Ear pinning in the fields. Last night I started to see them running at night, this week may be it. If not, it will be soon. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I am guessing a few does are ready from a farm about a mile down the road. I had quite a few older bucks on cams, last week the pics started drying up. Seen a few days with bucks and beeded does in open fields. Just starting to see solo fawns eating in the food plots. Thank god I am a bowhunter. Good luck guys should start ramping up!
Sat last night for an hour after getting my cuddelink system back out on the property after swapping batteries on the cams. Scrapes are fresh, the cold snap and snow last week nocked most of the leaves off the trees, it's go time! I'll try to get out once more before the MN gun season opens up on Saturday morning.
One more sit tomorrow night before MN gun season starts. Be sure to enter your kills on the scorecard thread!
Hunted a lot last couple of weeks. Been productive seem a couple good bucks on the hoof and killed 4 or 5 does to fill the freezer. Actually shot a good buck this morning I’d say he might go 140 hit him back in the guts seen a bunch laying on the ground not far from the arrow so hopefully he didn’t go too far, I’m going late this evening to look for him. I’ll update y’all when I go look Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Already posted most of the story over on the live from the stand thread, so here's the link to that. Basically I shot this same buck the night before at 37 yards, hit him high and tracked him for about 75 yards until blood just stopped. We searched the entire area with no further sign. Thought he would live, because the arrow was completely covered in fat and the fur we found was all brown plus I saw where I hit him and I knew it was high. After I finished him off the following morning, when I walked up I could see the wound in his top side basically the 2-blade Rage hit horizontally along the top curve of the rib cage and just deflected up under the skin but over the spine and out. He was completely fine and chasing tail the next morning when I killed him. https://forums.bowhunting.com/posts/1615322/
On the Buck board! Story: Just put 2 arrows in a funky looking buck. Saw him at 80. Grunted at him and he came running in. Shot him at 20, looked back. Grabbed another arrow and he gave me a hard quartering away 25yd shot. That one hit too. He ran another 50 and then I lost sight of him. Didnt hear anything . Don't know if he keeled over or walked off. Ill check in 30. Thought he was a 2.5yr old 8pt, buttt didn't see his other side. It happened so fast. Hes a 2.5yr old but 3 on one side and a long spike on the other. Fine with me! In 52yrs, I've never shot a Buck from a stand. Until today, every Buck with Rifle, Muzzleloader, Crossbow or Compound I've ever shot was from the ground. I'm soooooo excited. Getting him to run in on the grunt call after seeing him cruising and then getting him with the compound from 25ft up!
