I DESPISE late season bow hunting in frigid temps but will do it LOL. I can take two bucks, but won't touch a gun till I put at least one buck down with a bow. I'll get us some points unless sickness takes me down in a major way.
I actually enjoy hunting in January and February. Primarily because there aren’t that many hunters who stick it out that long. I’m quite a bit farther south than most of you though, so it’s bearable.
Yeah I love the hunt of late seasons and the quietness winters bring, but DESPISE the part of drawing a bow when temps start with a 1 or a less LOL
I'm doing the same. We are supposed to get a little snow and cooler temps after the rain moves out tonight. I told my wife don't expect to see me tomorrow, I'm going to be in a stand. Sent from my Pixel 4 using Tapatalk
Choked up 50 points for the good guys! I will get more pictures and a story little bit later. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
So there I was.....face paint smeared everywhere, 7 layers of hecs clothing, holding my breath for an entire hour! Chalk** chalk up 50 pts*** It was honestly a very boring sit but it felt good to be in a tree. I got out around 5:15 due to obligations at work. I had seen one fat raccoon and thought the hunt was going to be a bust. Right at 6:15 I looked at my phone put it away, looked right, looked left and nothing at all. I looked back left and she’s standing at 12 yards, I stood grabbed my bow and hooked my release in one motion. I got to full draw gave her a bleat, and she stopped in a perfect opening that I ranged at 24 yards, touched the trigger and she went all of 13 yards. From the time I saw her until the moment I shot was less then 10 seconds. I like the hunts where there’s no time to get nervous but this one was just a bit too fast. Here’s a couple more pics that I already threw up in the scorecard thread Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums View attachment 118317 View attachment 118318
I like those quick encounters too. That's what happened to me last year with my buck. It was more than 10 seconds, but it was a short encounter. Congratulations on a great doe Mitch! The scorecard has already been updated.
Idk if it’s just my phone but I can’t see the pictures at all, it keeps telling me to put in my password so here they are again Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I did not. We don’t have a scale but I keep telling myself I’m going to buy one. If I had to guess she was somewhere around 140 live weight Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Thanks man, no only made it about 20-25 yards. The Ramcat Hydroshock tore her up! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I guess the next time I climb a tree it will be on public land in Mark Twain National Forest. My son in law is supposed to get here tomorrow morning. My son will be arriving from Virginia tomorrow evening. We will get the travel trailer and trucks loaded and we'll head to camp Monday morning. We're all set to spend 2 1/2 weeks there. It should be a lot of fun.
Well fellas forced a hunt last night but paying for it today. Clearly not well still and pulling plug on trying to go tonight. Cannot feel energy and this congestion and cough is not something I want to fight again. Last night saw first shooter while on stand. Not a giant but with two tags in my pocket and the Swamp property not having a bunch of studs any solid 3.5 is getting whacked. He stayed on the interior edge of the swamp 80 yards or so away and bout 40 yards over line into swamp. Worked 5 scrapes as i could see him. Soft grunts but wasn't interested. Saw about a dozen deer, only 3 I could have shot - 2 yearling does and one yearling buck which I desperately wanna see him in 2022. Dude is one of those beams go straight up 5 to 7 inches before thinking of swooping level and forward. Could be so cool. Got footage but computer is still out of commission so cannot edit anything.
before my nyquil kicks in midday here, aren't we missing a buck killed on the team on card yet? Was it @ash d ?
