Hows it going yall. I just got stationed at NAS Lemoore after being overseas for 7 years and finally gonna get back out in the woods and decided to get a bow and try the challenge. Still doing my research of what bow to purchase. Hope yall are having a great Sunday!
Welcome to the forum. With the contest going on and season transitioning into pre Rut you might not get quick responses but if you have any questions just shout
I’m new to the group as well. I’m from Michigan and I’m not the type to buy new gear. I just recently traded in my Hoyt legacy for a Mathews. My Hoyt was just overall to big, this Mathews I picked up is much smaller, I love it! I imagine all the bows made now a days are much smaller now....Good luck to ya, I hope you find your fit. You name a bow and someone on here has used it owns it or hates it. Just drive around to all your local shops and shoot each brand. Keep track of how each feels (maybe with a numeric system of your choice) then narrow down by price range and then pitter patter
i think about 800 max for the bow setup. Gonna be going to a pro shop down in San Diego this weekend.
I think you can get into a bow ready to hunt in that range. bear archery, diamond, mission to begin with
Missions are GREAT bows. Have one, love it, and have never heard anyone seriously badmouth them. It's now my 'backup' bow but it shoots every bit as good as my $1000 primary bow. Bear still has a loyal following and a great rep. My best advice is to get a good budget bow that you really like how it shoots and then spend your real money on sights and spend some serious time and maybe money on an arrow set up. The broadhead does the killing, the shaft is the delivery system, and the bow is the launchpad. Figure out what bow you like. Then figure out what shaft and head your bow likes.
Been around a while now and they are both made by 2 great companies. Diamond is Bowtech and Mission is Mathews.
this is sound advice. down the road if you stick with it, you can upgrade if you choose. But any modern compound is a good bow. and the low end bows today are better than most top end bows 15-20 years ago.
well yes and no. can they kill? yep, are there better options? you bet. by a bare bow and put the rest and sight you want ...u can still do that for around 700 https://diamondarchery.com/bows/edge-320/ https://www.mathewsinc.com/product/tactic/ bare bow 700
