What did you get? I just got my first pair of Firstlite pants and some smart wool merino. It’s like wearing butter..
Here's my opinion on my own personal experience. Small creeks attached to a marsh are my number 1 spot to hunt during the rut. There is reasons bucks will cruise the creek. My first observation is the creek will kill trees, so the under brush grows in and makes them thick and nasty. Bucks love the security cover from them. The 2nd and most important which I believe. It's the lowest part of the surrounding land, so all thermal scent is pulled to the creek. It's the perfect place for them to get all the info needed with out ever leaving the creek. If you walk out in that field to the south, he will smell you. So what has worked for me is I walk with the wind directly in route to the exact tree I will be hunting. Most times this tree is actually hanging over the creek. That way if a buck is cruising the creek, you can shoot him before he winds you. Access is key here. Sometimes it is needed to give the buck the wind so he feels comfortable walking thru there. Also he can check all those scrapes on the field edge just by walking that creek. I think you have a killer setup there to kill a big buck. My guess is you hunt that creek on a North wind and don't see much for bucks. Try a south wind and see if anything changes, I have a feeling you will be surprised. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
"It's the lowest part of the surrounding land, so all thermal scent is pulled to the creek. " You seeing that effect when the water is warmer than the outside air? Or all the time?
