Been up for a little while. Apparently I left my grunt in the other tree last week, but ill be in that spot in the morning. No big deal really. Normally don't like to hit it here much, so i don't get one work down wind of me. Good luck out there!

The gear is getting a fresh bath in smoke. I'll be heading out for a morning hunt tomorrow, then date night with the wifey. I gotta get the date night in before everything breaks loose next week!!

    LOL Thanks!

My dad has said the same. He also asks, "Why? Why hunting?" "I wish you were this passionate about fishing."

I grew up on a lake, and my dad's life revolves around fishing. he has a pin from the state of MA for almost every species of fish. He also keeps a boat down in Narragansett bay for ocean fishing. He is the best fisherman I've ever met or known, he is a natural. I think I have zero desire to fish because when I was a kid, my dad would always ask me to go, and I didn't want to let him down, so I went. I guess I built resentment towards fishing. I know it would make his world for me to go fishing with him, or start fishing again in general. But honestly, it does nothing for me, except Ice Fishing after big Northern Pike.

Why I latched onto hunting? I don't know. I've always loved the woods. Growing up on the lake, I spent more time in the woods building forts, climbing trees, than on the water. Being in the woods chasing whitetails is just a natural draw for me. I can't get enough of it!

Regular season starts tomorrow in the Northern Tier. Regular season tags are all we can use now. We can still bowhunt, but a regular season tag is required. And my area doesn't have a late season so my bow/muzzleloader season tags are no good anymore.

    I am absolutely freezing now.

These wind gusts almost hurt and it kinda feels like I’m back on a ship.

I still have an hour and a half. Will deer actually move in this crazy wind?

Well. Last minute change of plans. I left work a tad early to squeeze in a last min hunt. I can’t hunt for another week so I figured I would give it a shot. Been raining all day so snuck in nicely. Actually snuck in so nice, I was climbing the tree and a deer must have come in on me. I saw it bolt away but it looked tiny. Didn’t blow, so that’s a plus. Wind just calmed down and I am in the magic hour. Anything is on the menu tonight. Just trying to be like LC :) Good luck to all who are out!

We should start an LC LFTS thread. He would singlehandedly keep all of us on the edge of our seats. Lol

Took the last 2 days off. Should get back after it tomorrow. I posted in the scouting thread about my issue with hunting my property with a W/NW wind and that is expected all next week. I’m saying screw it and getting into the swamp/best rut spot I can find. If the wind screws me so be it. I’m not hunting the edges of the property during the pre rut/rut.
