I'll be back on stand tomorrow afternoon.

I still have to do the grind on two of the three does I brought home from Kentucky, but that won't take but about an hour in the morning.

I'll be hunting here on my home property to start and I won't shoot another doe here until I've either killed a buck or the rut has come and gone.

On the 2nd of November my son will get here from Virginia and we will be headed to Mark Twain National Forest for around 2 1/2 weeks of hunting. I may or may not shoot a doe there on public land, but I'd rather not. I'm good on does for the time being. Actually, I'm kind of sick of them. Then again, I am kind of trigger happy. Maybe I just like killing deer.

While we're in Mark Twain National Forest I will most likely be joined there by my son in law and two members of the forums here. I won't put their names out here but if they see this and they are so inclined they are welcome to chime in.

The next few weeks should be a lot of fun.

I still have my 50th birthday ahead of me though

I can only hope to retire before the "official retirement age" though

Wow, that sounds like a lot of fun. Here I’m excited for the rest of the season and I’ll be surprised if I get in 12 more hunts.

It was actually tough to pull off, but given my family history (life expectancy) I pulled the trigger as soon as financially possible. I want to enjoy at least a few years of not having to work before I become fertilizer.

If anyone wants to spend any part of Oct 28 - Nov 9 chasing 2.5 year old bucks all over a big piece of Mid-Michigan heaven, let me know. Deer camp going to be down to just me and my cousin in 2 big campers this year. over 10,000 acres within 20 minutes in all directions.

One thing I've learned in life is that you make time for what is really important in life and you have to give up time doing what you enjoy doing

There was a time (it doesn't seem that long ago) when I missed almost 15 straight years of deer hunting. I had young children and I was active duty Navy. I missed around half of my kid's developmental years due to deployments and I just couldn't miss more than that to kill deer.

My six kids are all grown now, and all but one have kids of their own. It's my children's turn to suffer () and it's my time to do what I've always loved and by God I'm going to do it.

That's enough of this on the LFTS thread.

Someone kill something in the morning while I'm grinding doe parts.

Yeah. I hear you Chief. I probably average 15 total hunts a year right now. I have 3 kids at home that range from ages 15 down to 7. They have tons of sports going on right now. I am active duty Air Force and just started my new position as a First Sergeant which ties me up non-stop (I absolutely love it though!). I could potentially retire in 2 years but probably will keep going. Love the Air Force! I just turned 38 y/o. Thanks for this post. It lets me know that this crazy busy life is just temporary and that one day I can hopefully have time to hunt like you. Doubt I will be that successful though. I lost count of your kills this year after you hit double digits. Lol.

    Thanks for your service!
