Well it took a little over a year but I finally got my buck from last year back from taxidermist. Only mount I have and probably the only one I will ever have. My wife’s not a big fan of looking at animal heads but I convinced her to allow this one. Super happy with the way it turned out. The detail he put on it I feel is amazing but I’m no expert. He’s not a mega giant but by far my biggest to date. I’m working on making a custom display cabinet / pedestal for him to hang on and display some euro mounts in display case below. Will post more pics when that is done. Gonna be awesome !!!!
That's a trophy buck by anyone's standards! Great looking mount. You'll have to explain how you convinced her to give you the go ahead. I'll hopefully need some advice on that front in my future. Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
That's a great mount of a great buck! Congrats. Every time you look at that mount you'll replay the hunt in your mind.
I pretty much just explained to her that this is what I’ve spent the last 38 years hunting for and finally got it. My son is a college golfer and I compared it to him practicing and playing competitive golf for 38 years and winning the masters but not being allowed to wear the green jacket. It also helped that I did a few side jobs this summer and didn’t have to pull the funds to pay for it from our account it was payed for with extra unexpected money. man, grab your balls and hang that damn thing above the bed !!! j/k ...but heck of a great mount and a great buck man!
What amazed me was the little details. There are tiny little droplets of water on the “whiskers?” under his chin. He even pointed out some scars around his eyes from rubbing or fighting that are still there that I didn’t notice before. Totally amazing !! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
That’s a great buck and an awesome looking mount. Your taxidermist did an outstanding job. I totally understand where you’re coming from as far as the wife goes. My wife isn’t a fan of dead animals in the wall either, but over the years she softened up a bit. I now have one shoulder mount, seven euro mounts and one skull cap rack in the living room. It just takes time, patience and a good deal of stubbornness.
That looks great! Nice buck and beautiful mount. That’s not one you put in the garage or unfinished basement. That taxi work deserves to be seen
when I was married, I had to keep mine in the garage or a spare room... the sunlight faded them badly...now she's gone, i have a room dedicated to my mounts!!
That is a great looking mount and well worth the wait. The taxidermist I use typically takes 8 months or longer. People always question the length of time but I would rather wait for a quality mount. Your taxidermist did an excellent job and awesome buck. Congrats
Good looking mount, a good taxidermist is hard to find. Looks like you found one, the same taxidermist(not yours) has done all 5 of mine and will always be my first call. You'll always find a reason for another though I still have my first clean 10 that I need to get mounted. ruined the cape dragging with a UTV.
Wow! That turned out great! Love that mount. Guys I saw this buck in person and it was a beast! The pics don't do it justice. It had one of the biggest, block heads I've seen in a long time. Definitely a mature buck! Now time to build that pedestal Happy! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
Hopefully get started next week with that. Stay tuned. More pics to follow. Eventually Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
