well I'm hoping to leave work early today and get out for an afternoon hunt. Probably going to stay local and hunt a place I've never hunted/scouted so pretty much going in blind, finding a tree to climb and praying to get lucky.

I like to do that every once in a while to mix it up and hunt/scout a new area. Good luck

Update on my evening sit: Didn’t let an arrow fly but had a great sit. Saw 2 buck going at it about 40 yards away from me. Couldn’t quite tell the size of the rack (I’m guessing small young buck) my view was blocked by brush and some trees but it was pretty cool to see. Couldn’t get them to come any closer. They were sparring for about 10-15 minutes before they went the opposite way.

Sounds like a neat evening. What county are you hunting?

I would love to take ya up on that!
Sadly, the only place I really have to hunt in Allegheny county is my local gun club(which is very seldom anyway) and I live in Allegheny co.

Weather for the week looks anything but desirable. Rain most of the week and when it’s not raining, highs in the 70s

Except for one sit those little bucks are all I’ve been seeing. Saw 8 does opening morning and only 3 since. Had one shooter in range but no shot. I have seen 5 or 6 little bucks 3 which were legal the others forks and spikes. This is the first year ever that I have passed a shot at a legal buck. I’ve heard people say that once you shoot a good one you get a little more selective. I guess that’s true. The last week I may not be as picky. Still would rather shoot a small buck with my bow than deal with all the knuckleheads in pa during gun season.

I enjoy both seasons. When I've hunted for them hard in archery and did not get one...most times....I like to chase them with a gun for a few weeks...and then still not likely get one :)

Took a kid squirrel hunting this morning. Saw a doe, gray fox and a squirrel.

He didn’t get the squirrel lol! But we brushed in a spot to sit for rifle season. Hopefully I can help him get his first deer this year

I've been playing cat and mouse with a decent bucknthe last couple hunts. Time to switch it up and throw him off his game.

Man I hate Pennsylvania and not being able to hunt on Sundays. So stupid, hopefully they get with the times and go to all sundays next year.

I hear you. Seems like today is the best weather in a week but sitting inside looking out sucks.
