Looks like a small coldfront is moving through this weekend fellas. Might be a flurry of buck activity.

 

This is my take on it. If you're a hunter who hunts for the harvest, by all means feed your family! If your in it for the sport, take what feels your thrill! I love the sport, but love my deer sausage even more!

 

VS, I hoping this will get them on their hoofs! Looking to down a nice doe. The temps here so far, been in the 90's for the last 3-4 days.

 

Looks like the temps will drop 20 degrees in Houston by Fri. Might get them moving.

 

I have no intention of shooting that buck. He’s a 2 1/2 year old deer. That area has 180” potential. Have to let the youngsters go.
This one last taken last year.

Got 2 buddies from Ws that wanna come up late Oct.
They wanna hunt public ground.
Took the day off and went scouting some of it for them.
Ox map shows 6.7 miles I walked.
Found only a few spots id hang a stand but they look superb.
Nasty,nasty walk but I think if they put in the time they'll be golden.

 

That's a good friend to do that for a buddy.

 

Although I have quite a bit of superb private stuff, this piece of public ground has always intrigued me.
Have not seen a rig parked there during bow season in 30 years.
I think its over 1000 acres.
I know most of the landowner around it and the shoots some whoppers.

Iffn ya wanna try a Mn VS, i think youde love it.

 

Well gentlemen,
Proud dad moment for me. My oldest boy is 12,have him hunting solothis year. He or his first deer solo last night. 50 lb bow he hit her perfect. Pass through shot. Got to let a buddy run his puppy on it as a training track! Sarge and I found another one today, he is up to 13 recoveries this season so far.

I agree! There are a few deer I wish I had my dog for! I lost one 23 years ago at 15 that I have never seen anything like since! Still makes my stomach go in knots to think about! Lol

 

This fall has been just beautiful here.
Looks like that is gonna change. Forecast looks cold from here on out. Aint quite ready for it yet.
